IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
15) Kickback Prevention
WARNING! KICKBACK may occur when the nose or tip of the guide bar touches
!
an object, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut.
Tip contact in some cases may cause a lightning fast reverse reaction, kicking
the guide bar up and back towards the operator.
Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide bar may push the guide
bar rapidly back towards the operator. Either of these reactions may cause
you to lose control of the saw which could result in serious injury.
a) Grip Saw Firmly. Hold the chain saw firmly with both hands when the
b) Do not over-reach.
c) Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
d) Don't let the nose of the guide bar contact a log, branch, ground or
e) Don't cut above shoulder height.
f ) Only use replacement bars and chains specified by the manufacturer or
16) Power Supply
Connect chain saw to correct voltage, be sure that the voltage
supplied is the same as that specified on the nameplate of the tool.
17) Eye Protection
Always wear a safety face shield or goggles that meet ANSI Z87.1
requirements.
18) Extension Cord
!
WARNING! To prevent electric shock use only with an extension cord suitable
for outdoor use, such as SW, SOW, STW, STOW, SJW, SJOW, SJTW, or SJTOW.
Extension Cord – Make sure your extension cord set is in good condition.
When using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to
carry the current your product will draw. An undersized cord will cause a
drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. (NOTE:
Table 1 shows the correct size to use depending on cord length and
nameplate ampere rating. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge. The
smaller the gauge number the heavier the cord.)
More than / Not more than
To reduce the likelihood of disconnection of the chain saw cord from the
extension cord during use, make a loop as shown.
19)Power Connection
The mains voltage (120V~60Hz) indicated on the rating plate must
correspond with the mains power supply. Mains connection fuse: min.16A.
a) Plug the chain saw power cord into an appropriate extension cord.
b) Plug the extension cord into a 120V outlet.
