- The detector features an extra compartment which can house a spare battery. To extend battery life, switch
the left and right battery after 3-4 hours of operation.
- Extend battery life by using earphones, which require less power the built-in speaker.
• Using Earphones
Connect the earphones (not incl.) to the detector through the 1/8" EAR jack. The internal speaker disconnects
when you connect earphones.
3. Operation
Your metal detector distinguishes ferrous from non-ferrous metals. Ferrous metals contain iron, while non-ferrous
metals such as gold and silver do not. When the detector senses a metallic object, the meter readings will change
and the detector will buzz. The actual readings depend on the detected metal type.
• Switching On the Detector
Rotate the VOLUME knob slightly to the right until you hear a clicking sound. Rotate the knob further to the right
to increase the volume to the desired level.
• Tuning the Detector
Balancing the detector's receiver and transmitter circuitry will provide more consistent pointer and tone indications.
Turn the VOLUME knob to 11 o'clock, i.e. a little less than halfway between OFF and MAX. Set the
DISCRIMINATION knob halfway between MIN and MAX. Hold the search coil about 1' away from the ground or
any metal object. Hold down the PUSH button and slowly turn the TUNING knob left or right until the pointer on
the VU meter points at 0. Release the PUSH button. At this time, the TARGET indicator LED turns off. As you
search, you can fine-tune the detector using the DISCRIMINATION knob.
Press the PUSH button at any time during operation to automatically reset the pointer to 0.
• Testing and Using the Detector
To learn how the detector reacts to different metals, you should test it before you use it the first time. You can test
the detector indoors and outdoors.
- INDOOR testing and use
NOTE: Never test the detector on a floor inside a building. Most buildings have metal of some kind in the floor,
which might interfere with the objects you are testing, or mask the signal completely.
1. Place the detector on a wooden or plastic table, and remove any watches, rings or metal jewellery you are
wearing.
2. Adjust the search coil so the flat part points towards the ceiling.
3. Switch on the detector, set the volume at 11 o'clock and the discrimination halfway between MIN and MAX.
4. Slowly sweep a sample of the material you want the detector to find (such as a gold ring or a coin) 2" above
the face of the search coil. If you are using a coin, the detector will detect it more easily if you hold it so that
a flat side is parallel with the flat side of the search coil. The detection of a ferrous metal will be indicated by
a buzz, a move of the pointer to the left and a red TARGET LED. The detection of a non-ferrous metal will
be indicated by a buzz, a move of the pointer to the right and a green TARGET LED. If the detector does
not detect the sample, check the battery, verify the search coil connection or fine-tune the detector (see
"Fine-Tuning the Detector").
