Brake bleeding
Caution! Do not depress the brake pedal at any point during the bleeding process.
Caution! Ensure there is enough brake fluid in the reservoir during the bleeding
process. Otherwise air will be drawn in and the bleeding process will have to be
performed again.
1.
Use one of the hoses provided to connect the collection bottle to the vacuum
pump. Ensure that the collection bottle's connection marked 'TO PUMP' is
connected up to the vacuum pump.
2.
Next, connect the appropriate bleed adapter for your vehicle to one of the other
hoses and then connect it to the other side of the collection bottle.
Tip! Proceed in sequence, starting with the wheel brake cylinder furthest
from the master brake cylinder.
3.
Connect the bleed adapter to the bleed nipple on the brake calliper or wheel brake
cylinder and loosen the bleed screw slightly.
Tip! Insufficient loosening can result in poor or no draining of fluid.
However, excessive loosening can cause air to be drawn in via the bleed
screw thread.
4.
Pumping will now create a vacuum and the brake fluid will flow into the collection
bottle.
5.
If the brake fluid flowing through the transparent hose does not have any bubbles
in it, you can tighten the bleed screw again and remove the bleed adapter from the
bleed nipple.
6.
Repeat steps 3 through 5 on each brake calliper or wheel brake cylinder.
7.
Once you have finished the bleeding process, check the level of brake fluid in the
reservoir and top up the brake fluid if need be.
Caution! Do not forget to seal the reservoir and check all bleed nipples for leaks after
the bleeding process has been completed.
