- Page 7 4. Connecting to External Devices Conect either the RS-232C interface Cable or USB interface Cable to the reader/writer. 4-1 Mounting the RS-232C Interface Cable 1. Cut the power to the host computer and the reader/writer. 2. Connect one end of the interface cable to the reader/writer and the other end to the host computer.

Insert the power cord plug into a properly grounded AC outlet. Connect the grounding terminal to a metal portion (such as an outlet that has a ground- ing point) on a ground in the vicinity to use this reader/writer safely.
