SAFETY WARNINGS
In order to ensure that the Portable Battery Checker
will be used safely and efficiently, please read through
this Instruction Manual prior to use, and after having
acquired an adequate working knowledge of the unit's
performance, proceed to operate and maintain the unit
properly. Keep this Instruction Manual in a safe place
for easy reference.
In order to ensure that you will make the best use of the
Portable Battery Checker, please carefully read these
safety warnings prior to use.
Concerning the [WARNING],
[CAUTION] and [NOTICE] terms used
The cautionary items related to use are classified
into [WARNING], [CAUTION] and [NOTICE], and the
significance of each term is set forth below.
This indicates a potentially hazardous
WARNING
situation that could result in the death
or serious injury of the user when the
unit has been operated in a manner
counter to or inconsistent with the
instructions given.
This indicates a potentially hazardous
CAUTION
situation that may result in the injury
of the user and/or in property damage
when the unit has been operated in
a manner counter to or inconsistent
with the instructions given. Even items
indicated by [CAUTION] may lead to
serious consequences depending on
the situation. These are all important
safety-related precautions so they
must be observed without fail.
NOTICE
This indicates an important precaution
relating to the malfunction and/or damage
to the product and its accessories.

In order to prevent a fire, electric shock, injury and
other accidents, the following safety precautions
must be observed without fail.
•
Prior to use, read through all of these safety
precautions, and ensure that the unit is used
properly in accordance with the instructions given.
•
After having read these safety precautions, be
absolutely sure that this Instruction Manual is kept
in a safe place where it can be seen and referred
to at any time by the individuals who use the
Portable Battery Checker.
WARNING:
1.
Please be absolutely sure to read through the
Instruction Manual prior to use.
2.
Install only supported batteries that are
Makita's genuine products: Do not install any
other batteries.
Combining a battery in a manner other than the
one specified could cause it to burst, resulting in
injury and/or damage.
3.
Refrain from inducing short-circuiting between
the battery terminals.
When the unit is placed inside a tool bag, for
example, short-circuiting may occur, possibly
causing smoke or sparks to be generated, the
battery to burst, etc.
Do not use the unit in the rain or in a damp or

wet place.
Doing so may result in electric shocks and/or the
generation of smoke.
Do not use the unit where there are

combustible fluids or gases.
Doing so may cause an explosion and/or a fire.
CAUTION
1.
When the unit is not being used, store it away
properly.
•
Keep the unit in a place that has a low humidity
and that is not exposed to direct sunlight.
•
In order to avoid accidents, keep the unit in a high
location out of the reach of children or keep it
under lock and key.
•
Do not keep the unit in a location subject to
sudden changes in temperature or humidity.
•
Do not keep the unit in a location where there are
volatile materials.
•
Remove the battery before storing the unit away.
•
Do not keep the batteries in a location where the
temperature may exceed 50°C (122°F, such as
inside a metal box or inside a vehicle on a hot
summer's day). Doing so may cause the batteries
to deteriorate, and smoke and/or sparks may be
generated.
•
When the unit is not to be used for a prolonged
period, remove the dry cells. Otherwise, their
electrolyte may leak.

Ask a store that specializes in Portable Battery
Checkers to undertake repairs.
•
Individuals other than service personnel must
not disassemble, repair or remodel the Portable
Battery Checker. Otherwise, sparks may be
generated or the Portable Battery Checker may
malfunction, possibly causing injury.
•
If the main unit has heated up or a problem
has been observed, have the Portable Battery
Checker inspected and repaired.
•
Be absolutely sure to have the unit repaired at the
store or dealer where the unit was purchased or at
a Makita authorized service center.
•
If the unit is repaired by an individual who does
not have the requisite repair knowledge and skills,
not only will the unit not perform to the best of its
ability but accidents or injury may occur as well.

If abnormally high levels of heat are generated
or some other problem is noticed, immediately
remove the battery and stop using the unit.
Continued use may cause smoke or sparks to be
generated and/or the battery to burst.
