Chain Link Mesh Installation
1. Chain link mesh (J) is rolled tightly for shipping. Check the top and bottom for any pickets that may
have come unhooked from each other. They may need to be twisted back into place (FIG. 6).
It is recommended to unfold the mesh onto a flat surface.
2. The chain link mesh should be attached to the OUTSIDE of the kennel frame. You can start
installation of the mesh on either side of the door. Stand the chain link mesh next to the post you
choose to start at, insert a round tension rod (D) (FIG. 4) through the edge of the mesh. Hook a gate
clip (G) to the center of the gate frame and snap it onto the tension rod. (FIG. 4) Maintain a loose
tension on the fabric and secure four more clips, evenly spaced, top to bottom.
NOTE: To hold gate clips in place during initial assembly, use a metal tie wire (K) to secure. Once the
chain link mesh is attached at both sides, remove ties. Gate clips will remain in place as a result
of the tension.
3. Unroll chain link mesh around the outside of the kennel frame. As you work your way around the
kennel, pull the mesh tightly. At each center and corner post, use two steel wire clips (L) to help
keep the chain link mesh tight. (Fig. 8-10). The "u" of the clip goes around the vertical rail on the
inside of the kennel, with the opening facing outwards to catch the chain link mesh. You can tighten
these after installation by squeezing them shut with pliers. Use the aluminum tie wires to attach the
mesh to the top and bottom rails.
FIG. 8
NOTE: For easier installation and to help hold fabric in place, attach a few metal tie wires to the top
and bottom of the rails as you stretch the fabric around the frame.
NOTE: The chain link mesh is pre-cut to easily fit the kennel size, however exact length is not always
possible. Therefore, one or more chain link pickets may need to be removed to ensure proper tension
on the mesh. If pickets need to be removed, straighten out the ends of as many pickets as necessary
at top and bottom and twist out the picket (FIG. 11).
4. Use metal tie wires (K) to secure the chain link fabric to the top, bottom, gate and all sides of
kennel. Position the ties between knuckles (FIG 12). Secure mesh horizontally and vertically.
5. After unrolling the chain link mesh around the entire kennel frame, install the remaining tension rod
(D) through the edge of the mesh. Snap tension rod to frame, using gate clips, like in Step 2 above.
6. Using the remaining tie wires (E), secure the chain link mesh to the top and bottom rails. The top
tie wires should be approximately 18" apart, the bottoms 12". If you have any tie wires left over, use
them at the center and corner stands.
NOTE: The ends of the metal tie wires should always point towards the outside of the kennel to keep
your pet from touching them. For extra security, you can add plastic pull ties (rated 120 tensile strength
or greater – NOT included) between the metal tie wire placement.
