Adjusting the guard
1. Set the grinder on the grinding wheel.
2. Use the height adjuster to adjust the height.
▶ Optimum height: approximately 1 mm clearance between sealing lips and surface.
3. If you are working along a corner, turn the segment opening of the guard to the desired position.
4. Be sure to close the segment opening when you finish working along the corner.

Fall arrest
WARNING
Risk of injury by falling tool and/or accessory!
▶ Use only the Hilti tool tether recommended for your product.
▶ Prior to each use, always check the attachment point of the tool tether for possible damage.
Comply with the national regulations for working at heights.
As drop arrester for this product, use only a combination of the Hilti retaining strap and the Hilti tool tether
#2261970.
▶ Secure the retaining strap to the installation openings for accessories. Check that it holds securely.
▶ Secure one carabiner of the tool tether to the retaining strap and secure the second carabiner to a
load-bearing structure. Check that both carabiners hold securely.
Comply with the operating instructions of the Hilti retaining strap and those of the Hilti tool tether.

Operation
Observe the safety instructions and warnings in this documentation and on the product.
6.1
Switching on

1. Press the rear section of the on/off switch.
2. Slide the on/off switch forward.
3. Lock the on/off switch.
▶ The motor runs continuously.
6.2
Grinding/polishing
1. Connect the dust extractor to the connector.
2. Lift the grinder clear of the work surface.
3. Use the buttons for speed stages to set the desired speed stage.
▶ Stages 1 and 2 for fine grinding/polishing with fine-grinding pads.
▶ Stages 3 to 6 for grinding/removal of material with diamond cup wheel.
4. Switch the grinder on. → page 11
▶ The grinder is now in continuous operation mode.
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to loss of control! Failure to use both hands to guide the grinder might cause you to lose
control of the grinder and injure yourself.
▶ Always hold the grinder with both hands on the grip and the gripping surface, while moving the grinder
back and forth.
5. Bring the grinder with the accessory tool into full contact with the work surface and keep the tool moving
with a steady back-and-forth action.
6. Apply moderate pressure and do not press the grinder into the material.
