VIII. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Defrost
1. Refrigerator section
- The defrosting of your refrigerator is fully automatic and occurs each
time the compressor stops. No intervention on your part is necessary.
- During operation, drops of condensation or ice appear on the rear
wall.
- The water produced will flow through the drain hole and will be
collected in the tank located on the compressor from where it will
evaporate.
Important: Keep the drain hole and gutter clean to prevent clogging
and water flow inside the cabinet.
2. Freezer compartment
The formation of frost inside the device cannot be avoided. Frost forms
when moisture in the air comes into contact with the cold surfaces of
the freezer compartment. Therefore, the door should only be opened
when necessary. A thin layer of frost does not interfere with the
operation of the appliance and can be removed with the squeegee.
When the layer of frost reaches ten millimeters, it is necessary to
proceed to the complete defrosting. We recommend that you do this
when the device is lightly loaded:
- Before defrosting, if the appliance is not empty, turn the thermostat
knob to a cooler position so that the products are brought to very low
temperature.
- Unplug the device.
- Take out the frozen products and keep them in a cool place by
wrapping them in several sheets of newspaper or better still in insulated
packaging (isothermal bags, plastic bubble sheets, etc.).
- Leave the door open.
- You can speed up defrosting by removing some of the frost using the
squeegee and placing containers of hot water (max 60 °) inside.
