Drawbar must be used
in the RISE position only.
Note: Apply blue thread locker to all bolts.
1.
Remove fascia:
a)
Using Philip screwdriver, remove (2) screws from wheel well liner both sides of vehicle, see Figure 2.
b)
Open trunk to access taillight. Remove taillight trim panel. Using 10mm socket, remove (1) bolt from fascia both sides.
c)
Using flat head screwdriver, remove (5) plastic rivets from fascia and underbody panel.
d)
Using 10 mm socket, remove (2) screws from underbody panel.
e)
Gently remove fascia and set aside in safe place.
2.
Remove bumper: Using 12 mm socket, remove (4) M8 factory bolts from bumper plate each side. Return factory bolts to vehicle owner. Gently remove bumper beam and set aside.
3.
Install hitch:
a)
Push the thin metal piece under the bumper plate inward and make it flush with end panel each side, see Figure 3. Align bumper beam with hitch and attach to end panel with
supplied M8 bolts ①, see Figure 1.
b)
Tighten all M8 fasteners with torque wrench to 20 Ft.-Lb. (27 N*M)
c)
Using 1/2" drill bit, locate hole in bracket on bottom of frame. Drill hole through frame. Feed the carriage bolt ② and spacer ③ through the access hole using the pull wires ⑥.
Remove pull wires and loosely install conical washer ④ and hex nut ⑤ to hitch.
d)
Tighten all 7/16'' fasteners with torque wrench to 50 Ft.-Lb. (68 N*M).
4.
Trim fascia: Trim fascia in area shown in Figure 4.
5.
Trim underbody panel: Trim underbody panel in area shown in Figure 5.
6.
Reinstall fascia, underbody panel, and fasteners removed in previous steps.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged
should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for
connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
