B Using the appliance
• Plug the appliance into an appropriate electrical outlet.
• While the plates have non-stick coating, we recommend coating them
with grease or oil . If you use oil, apply it using a paper towel or a pastry
brush .
• Turn the control button to set the desired cooking temperature: 'Low',
'Medium' or 'High' .
• After setting the temperature, a red light on the top of the appliance
will switch on indicating that the appliance is turned on .
• Once the optimal temperature has been reached, a green light will
switch on indicating that the appliance is ready to use .
• Place the toastie, piece of bread or waffle dough on the lower plate.
Close the lid and lock the handle .
• It may take several seconds for the green light to go out. This is normal.
• The green light works with a thermostat. It indicates when the appliance
has reached the selected temperature . Throughout cooking, the light
will go on and off . You can judge the readiness of your food by raising
the lid .
• Once the desired level of cooking is reached, remove the toastie/
sandwich/waffle by gently lifting the edges using a plastic heat-
resistant spatula . Never use metal utensils as they may damage the
non-stick coating .
NOTE: When you use the appliance for the first time, it may give off a
slight odour and a little smoke . This is normal and usual for appliances
with non-stick surfaces .

4 . TIPS FROM THE CHEFS
• Your appliance has a handle that locks to keep the food in place during
cooking .
For posiction 1:1
• Always fully preheat your appliance before using it.
• The appliance lid should be closed while it is preheating.
• We recommend spreading a little butter or brushing a little olive oil on
the outer surface of the bread when you are preparing toasties .
• 'Light' or 'diet' margarines are not recommended for hot preparations
(read the manufacturers recommendations for use for best results).
• Butter at room temperature is easier to spread on bread or you can
brush melted butter on with a pastry brush .
• For best results, use a paper towel to dry wet ingredients like tomatoes
or fruits, pickles, etc .
• Always use the same amount of dough to obtain identical waffles of
the same size .
• To remove grease that may remain on the plates, place a paper towel
between the plates and close the appliance . The grease will be easier
to eliminate .
