General information before use
Scales on the water containers facilitate
fi lling them with the correct amount
of clean water. With a dual-scale, the
left scale is used for regular-sized cups
of approx.125ml, while the right scale is
used for smaller cups. Make sure that the
indicated maximum is not exceeded.
Th e hot-plates remain hot until the
appliance has been switched off completely
(with both switches in their Off -position).
If several consecutive brewing cycles are
required, switch off the coff ee maker aft er
each cycle and let it cool down for approx.
5 minutes.
Important note:
appliance with fresh water shortly aft er
a brewing cycle is completed, there is
a danger of scalding from hot water or
steam escaping through the water outlet.
Before using for the fi rst time
Before making coff ee for the fi rst time, let the
appliance go through two or three fi ltration
cycles without using ground coff ee. Th is
should also be done if the appliance has not
been used for an extended period of time,
and aft er descaling.
Making coff ee
Filling with water:
Open the water container lid, fi ll the container
with the desired quantity of clean, cold water
(using the glass carafe) and close the lid.
Inserting the paper fi lter:
Open the swing-out fi lter holder and insert
a size-4 paper fi lter, fi rst folding down the
perforated sides of the fi lter.
Filling with ground coff ee:
For each regular-sized cup (125ml), a measure
of about 6 g (= 1½ - 2 teaspoons) of medium
or fi nely ground coff ee will be required. For
smaller cups, about 4g = 1 - 1½ teaspoons
will be required. Close the swing-out holder
aft erwards.
Preparing the glass carafe:
Make sure to fi t the lid onto the glass
carafe before placing it onto the hot-plate.

If correctly inserted, the lid will disable the
drip-stop mechanism in the swing-out fi lter
during the brewing cycle.
Starting the brewing cycle:
Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet and
use the appropriate On/Off switch to turn on
the side of the coff ee maker to be used. Th e
fi ltration cycle starts.
Removing the freshly brewed coff ee:
Wait until all the water has passed through
the fi lter before removing the carafe from the
appliance.
Switching off the coff ee maker:
Th e coff ee may be kept warm inside the
carafe by leaving it standing on the hot-plate.
Th e plate stays warm until the appliance is
switched off completely (with both switches
in their Off -position). Always switch off aft er
use.
Making tea
Filling with water:
Open the container lid and fi ll the container
with the desired quantity of clean, cold water.
Caution: Do not put in more than max. 7
cups of water. Close the lid.
Filling with tea leaves:
To load the tea fi lter, take off its top by turning
anti-clockwise, put in the required amount of
tea leaves and close again.
Compared with traditional tea-brewing, only
a reduced amount of tea leaves should be
used, as the yield of the leaves is higher when
using this appliance.
Inserting the tea fi lter:
Insert a tea fi lter into the glass carafe.
Preparing the carafe:
Make sure to fi t the lid onto the glass carafe
before placing it onto the hot-plate. Keep the
swing-out fi lter closed.
Starting the brewing cycle:
Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet and
use the appropriate On/Off switch to turn on
the side of the coff ee maker to be used. Th e
fi ltration cycle starts.
Removing the freshly brewed tea:
Th e time the tea is left to stand largely
depends on your personal taste as well as on
