6. Maintenance and care
Attention! Before performing any installation or maintenance tasks, disconnect the electrical devices
immersed in the pond from the power source by pulling the plug out of the socket outlet.
Attention! The mains cable of the pump with UVC clarifier cannot be repaired or replaced. Repair is not
possible because the connecting lines are permanently cast. Replace the entire device if it is damaged.
6.1.
Cleaning the pump
Check for possible fouling of the pump and clean it, if necessary, as specified in the instructions.
•
Always switch off the power supply before maintenance work.
•
Ensure that the filter cap of the pump is not clogged by leaves or dirt deposits; clean it if necessary.
•
Press the sides of the front cover and pull it off of the pump.
•
Unscrew the screw from the inlet cover. Turn the inlet cover a quarter turn (90°) clockwise or
anticlockwise and then remove the inlet cover.
•
Pull the rotor out of the motor housing.
•
Make sure that the O-ring is in the recess provided.
•
Clean the rotor and motor housing with running tap water and check for wear by holding the shaft and
rotating the rotor: the rotation must be regular.
•
Reassemble the whole thing in the reverse order and attach the various components correctly.
6.2.
Cleaning the UVC clarifier and replacing the tube
If greater algae growth and/or limescale deposits are noticed, the correct operation of the UVC fixture must
be checked. The UVC tube has a limited service life (approx. 4000 hours) and should be replaced at the
latest after one season (March to October). Appropriate replacement tubes are available at the service
address specified below.
If the submersible pond filter has been switched off for a longer period of time, ensure that the quartz glass
piston that encloses the UVC tube is clean.
If the filter has not been operated for a longer period of time, under some circumstances it may be necessary
to replace the sealing rings (particularly for the UVC clarifier).
6.3.
Cleaning the UVC clarifier and quartz glass, and replacing the UVC tubes
•
Disconnect the UVC clarifier from the power supply and secure it against being switched on again.
•
Please observe the above safety measures.
•
Allow the water to drain out of the unit completely.
•
Press on the side of the filter cap and pull it off the UVC clarifier.
•
Do not use solvents or cleaning agents of any kind to clean the filter and filter media. Only use pond
water.
•
Carefully clean the filter cap of the UVC clarifier and make sure that it is not clogged with leaves or dirt
deposits.
•
Remove the filter from the filter cap and clean it thoroughly too.
•
Remove the locking screw on the bottom of the UVC cover.
•
Loosen the UVC cover by turning it slightly anti-clockwise (approx. 30°).
•
Dismantle the two screws of the UVC cover and remove the quartz glass inside by pulling carefully.
•
Clean the quartz glass and the housing thoroughly with water and a soft cloth.
•
Use a suitable solvent to remove any limescale deposits on the quartz glass. Rinse out and wash off
thoroughly before installation.
•
Check the quartz glass for damage. A defective quartz glass must always be replaced.
•
Then, if necessary, remove the defective UVC tube by gently pulling on the base and replace it with a
new original replacement tube (see item 9 "Service").
•
Make sure that all parts of the UVC unit are dry.
•
Fit everything in reverse order.
