COMMISSIONING
HOSPIVAC CABIN plants are used only for suction of non-aggressive gas, with less than 22%
of oxygen gas.
It is absolutely not recommended to use it to evacuate anaesthetic gas (AGSS system) with
the risk of self-ignition
IMPORTANT: Mechanical vacuum switches (for all types of regulation) having relative value
measurements are used, and set taking the altitude at which they are installed into account.
For details on this procedure, refer to the § 5.
First steps – Advice prior to commissioning the vacuum pumps
8.1.
Read the attached vacuum pump start-up and maintenance manual prior to starting up the equipment.
It should be noted that each pump has been factory filled with synthetic oil MV99S, special designed for
vacuum pumps.
The oil level of each pump must be checked prior to operation.
Set the two general switches GS (red/yellow knob) to O (Off).
8.2.
Switching on
 Set the LUA/LUB/LUC circuit breakers of all pumps to O (off).
 Open the main receiver bleed valve and shut off the network outlet valve.
 Set the general switch GS-X and the circuit breaker LUA to position I (on): vacuum pump A starts.
 Immediately check the direction of rotation of the pump. An arrow affixed to the pump indicates the
correct direction of rotation. If turning in the wrong direction, immediately stop the unit using the
general switch IG-X and cross 2 wires on the general power supply X.
 Proceed in the same way with the LUB&LUC circuit breakers of the B&C pumps connected to the power
supply Y.
 Close the main receivers bleed valve and open the network outlet valve.
 Switch on the vacuum plant so that the vacuum gradually rises in the network.
 Check all connections for leaks.
To check that the chosen set up is operating correctly:
 Isolate the plant from the network by closing the outlet valve,
 Induce a controlled leak by partially opening the bleed valve of the main receiver.
 Once this check has been carried out, make sure the bleed valve is properly closed and open the
network outlet valve.
For more detailed information concerning the control mode, consult the PROCOM-2 or CYCLIC 2020
manual.
8.3.
Cabin ventilation
Two or three fans will extract the calories produced by the vacuum pumps.
The first one is controlled by the PROCOM 2 or CYCLIC 2020.
In case of failure of the PROCOM 2 or the CYCLIC 2020, or if a higher ventilation need is required then all
fans will operate by a mechanical thermostat located on the control panel, always set to a higher value
than the set value of the PROCOM 2 or the CYCLIC 2020.
Standard settings:
On PROCOM 2 or CYCLIC 2020:
On the mechanical thermostat:

SETTINGS
9.1.
Setting pressure
Qualified and authorized personnel should only carry out any modification to the settings.
Improper actions may cause complete system malfunction.
Setting pressure for mechanical vacuum switches
For the lower limit: setting example: –650 mbar
Tighten the red screw: To modify the setting between –650 mbar and –600 mbar.
For the upper limit: setting example: –850 mbar
Tighten the green screw: To modify the setting between –800 mbar and –850
mbar.
