Tips
• Buy only clean, refrigerated eggs. Always wash your hands, surfaces,
and any utensils that have come in contact with raw eggs.
• Check eggs for cracks before buying. Do not buy eggs with cracks
or slight cracks. Cracks let air into the egg which will cause spoilage.
• Do not purchase eggs after the sell-by date.
• Eggs should be stored in the carton they were purchased in. You
can keep eggs 3 weeks past the sell-by date.
• Store eggs in their carton on the lower or middle shelf in the
refrigerator at a temperature under 45°F (7°C).
• Only use cold eggs. Your eggs may be overcooked if they aren't
cold from the refrigerator.

PROBABLE CAUSE/SOLUTION
• Have you used medium or small eggs? This product works best with large eggs. Follow water
recommendation for one less egg than what you are cooking.
• Did you add water to the center of the water reservoir? The cooking time is measured by water
evaporating from center first. Did you use extra large or jumbo eggs? This product works best with
large eggs.
• Different types of water may discolor egg shells. Eggs are safe to eat.
• Very fresh eggs can be difficult to peel. It is easiest to peel eggs that have been refrigerated
1 week to 10 days. To peel an egg, crackle the shell all over by gently tapping the egg on a table
or countertop. Roll the egg between your hands to loosen the shell. Then peel off the shell, starting
at the large end. Hold the egg under running water or dip it in water to make peeling easier.
• Eggs should be thrown out if left at room temperature longer than
2 hours, or 1 hour if warm weather.
• Rinse hard-cooked eggs with cold water or place in bowl of cold
water to stop the cooking process.
• Overcooked eggs will have a green ring around the cooked egg yolk.
• Quick check for fresh eggs: Place egg in bowl of water. If they rise,
they are not fresh. If they sink, they are fresh.
• Do not freeze hard-cooked eggs or cooked egg whites, since they
will weep and be tough to chew.
• Hard-cooked eggs can be stored in the refrigerator for 5 days.
• If you'd like to pierce your eggs before cooking, the water measuring
cup is equipped with an egg-piercing tool at the bottom of the cup.
Always clean the egg-piercing tool after each use.
