Getting started with the medBike:
Any appropriate Movement Therapy Program should be corresponding with your individual health needs. Therefore do consult your doctor
and/or therapist before starting using the medBike.
A correct seating position is very important when using the medBike. Make sure the medBike is correctly aligned with your chair or wheelchair.
The correct posture requires you to sit upright, back straight, and supported by the back support.
Adjust the height position of the display to match your seated posture.
The flexing of the knee, and the hip movement depends on distance between the medBike and the seat or wheelchair. Avoid overstressing or
locking of the knee joint.
Movement Therapy is based on regular training. Don't go for longer training sessions. Limit training to approximately 15 minutes, spread over
two or three sessions. Depending on your personal therapy, you may gradually increase these after a few weeks.
Spasm Control:
The medBike is equipped with a Spasm Control sensor. This safety feature is standard activated by the manufacturer.
The medBike will sense sudden muscular contractions and adjust the motor output accordingly.
In case spastic movement occurs, the medBike will automatically activate movement control to protect the user. The pedals movement will gently
cease, and the display will show an OVERLOAD message, and will require assisted input by the user or therapist.
Emergency Stop:
The medBike is equipped with an EMERGENCY STOP Button.
In case any abnormal situation may occur pressing this button will automatically stop the medBike, and assisted input by the user or therapist is
required.
Lower Leg Support:
For many people with partial or complete paraplegia of the lower body, lateral control of the lower legs is highly important during motion trai-
ning to prevent muscle shortening and joint stiffness. To assure a comfortable and correct position, a safe guidance of the lower legs is advisable.
medBike offers optional Calf Supports. These are available with your medBike dealer.
