Boil-dry protection
The kettle will switch off automatically if you
try to use it with no or too little water. If this
happens, ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the
OFF position. Remove the kettle from the
Power Base [6] and allow it to cool down
before re-filling.
CLEANING AND MAINTAINING THE DEVICE
DESCALING
!
Important
The kettle must be descaled regularly.
Excessive scale can cause the kettle to switch
off before boiling and may damage the
element invalidating the warranty.
The frequency of descaling depends on
usage and the hardness of the water in your
area.
Use a descaling product intended for
household appliances, such as white vinegar.
Descaling procedure using white vinegar:
1. Fill the kettle with water up to 3/4 of the
maximum level.
2. Bring the water to boil.
3. After the kettle has switched off, unplug
the kettle and remove it from the Power
Base [6].
4. Now add white vinegar (8% acetic acid)
to the MAX level.
5. Leave the solution in the kettle overnight.
6. Empty the kettle and rinse the inside
thoroughly.
7. Fill the kettle with fresh water and boil the
water.
8. Empty the kettle and rinse it with fresh
water again.
9. Repeat the procedure if there is still some
scale in the kettle.
10. Wipe the outside of the kettle thoroughly
with a damp soft cloth.
CLEANING
1. Remove the mains plug from the mains
electrical supply before cleaning.
2. Do not immerse the kettle in water or any
other liquid.
3. Avoid the use of solvents, polish, abrasive
or aerosol cleaners as they may damage
the surface of the kettle.
4. Clean the exterior by wiping with a slightly
dampened soft cloth.
5. The inside of the kettle may be cleaned
using a mild detergent. It must be
thoroughly rinsed before re-use.
6. The filter can be removed from the inside
of the Spout [1] for cleaning and then
replaced.
!
Important
Ensure that the electrical connections are
completely dry before using the kettle.
!
Warning
Always disconnect the plug from the mains
electrical supply and allow the kettle to cool
before cleaning.
Washable filter
The kettle is fitted with a filter. The filter helps
to prevent lime-scale from getting into your
drink. The filter should be cleaned regularly, in
particular if there are noticeable deposits left
on it, or if pouring is affected in anyway. To
clean the filter, remove it from the kettle and
rinse it under the tap. You can also drop the
filter in when de-scaling the kettle. Rinse the
filter thoroughly before fitting it back into the
kettle.
TREATING SCALDS
1. Immediately remove any clothing that
got splashed with the boiling water. Also
remove any jewelry in the area of the
burn, if possible.
2. Place the scalded area under gently
running cold water from a faucet for 20
minutes to dissipate the heat in the skin
and arrest the burning process.
3. Get medical help quickly.
