ELECTRICAL HEATERS 22-5215, -52151, -5230 & -52301
Installation
Install the heater in a frost-free room. Optionally, the heater may be installed horizontally or vertically.
Install the heater below water level and in such a manner that water is sure to reach the heating element
when filling the tub and that there is no risk of air pockets developing around the heating element. Install
the heater in such a manner that it is easily accessible in connection with service and re-connection of the
overheating circuit breaker.
Cable and wiring connections
A.
Heaters of the type 22-52xx, which have been fitted with overheating thermostat only, and which
may be used only in connection with main control units with built-in regulating thermostats:
1A.
The signal cable from the heater, labelled "SIGNAL", must be connected to the low-current side in
the main control unit labelled "OVERHEAT".
2A.
The main-current cable from the heater, labelled "230V" is to be connected to the terminal strip in
the main control unit normally labelled "HEAT" or "HEATER". Either direct or via contactor.
3A.
Install an external potential equalizer via the exterior boss of the water heater.
B.
Heaters of the type 22-52xx1, which have been fitted with both overheating thermostat and regulat-
ing thermostat may be connected to main control units without regulating thermostat:
1B.
The main-current cable from the heater is to be connected via contactor parallel to the terminal
strip marked "PUMP". (Please see the controllers diagram for further instructions)
2B.
Install an external potential equalizer via the exterior boss of the water heater.
Important
A water heater installation must be secured so the minimum recommended flow or pressure is present
when the heater is active. This can be secured by use of a flow- or pressure-switch. On control boxes
without safety inputs, the flow- or pressure-switch must be connected in serial connection with contactor
box (fig. 1). When used on control boxes with safety inputs, connect the flow- and/or pressure-switch here
(fig. 2). Please refer to connection diagram.
Description of functions
Fill the tub until the level sensor allows operation of the system. Set the regulation thermostat to the de-
sired water temperature. The heating function may then be activated, provided the other operational con-
ditions are met. This means: the pump and any other safety functions have been activated. Maximum
setting temperature is approx. 40°C for all types. The built-in overheating thermostat will automatically cut
out, if the temperature exceeds approx. 56°C, and must be reset manually. Wait until the heater has
cooled off again. Next, unscrew the safety cap on the connection box of the heater and depress the but-
ton. Remember always to replace the safety cap. If the overheating thermostat cuts out three times in
succession, call your electrical contractor/supplier.
