OE 3008BL
CAT.I DIGITAL MULTIMETER
USE
Measuring DC or AC voltage
1. Connect the black test lead to the "COM" terminal and the red test lead to the "VΩmA"
terminal.
2. Set the range selector to the desired V.DC or V.AC range position.
If the amplitude of the voltage to be measured is unknown, set the range selector to the
highest range and reduce range by range until satisfactory resolution is achieved.
3. Connect the test leads to the source or circuit to be tested.
4. View the measurement on the display. For DC voltage measurements, the polarity of
the red test lead connection will also be shown.
Note:
To avoid damage or injury, please do not measure voltage above 500V dc/ac even if you
get a reading.
Measuring direct current
1. Connect the black test lead to the "COM" terminal. Connect the red test lead to the
"VΩmA" terminal if the current to be measured is less than 200mA. If the current is
between 200mA and 5A, connect the red test lead to the "5A" terminal.
2. Set the range selector to the desired A.Continue range position.
3. Turn off the power to the circuit under test. Then discharge all high voltage capacitors.
4. Turn off the test circuit and connect the test leads in series to the circuit.
5. Turn the circuit back on and see the measurement on the display.
The polarity of the red test lead connection will also be shown.
Note:
If the magnitude of the current to be measured is unknown, set the range selector to the
highest range and reduce range by range until satisfactory resolution is achieved.
Measuring Resistance
1. Connect the black test lead to the "COM" terminal and the red test lead to the "VΩmA"
terminal.
2. Set the range selector to the desired Ω range.
3. Connect the test leads to the test object.
4. View the reading on the display.
Note:
1. For measurements > 1MΩ, the multimeter needs a few seconds to stabilize the
measurement reading. This is a normal procedure for high resistance measurements.
2. When the input is not connected, for example on an open circuit, only the number 1 is
shown on the display.
3. Before testing, please disconnect the circuit to be tested from any power supply and
fully discharge any capacitors.
