3. Never allow battery acid to drip on the charger when reading
the gravity or filling the battery.
4. Do not operate the charger in a closed area or restricted
ventilation in any way.
5. Do not set a battery on top of the charger.
6. Locate the charger at least 18 in. (45 cm) above the floor.
GROUNDING AND AC POWER
CORD CONNECTIONS
The charger should be grounded to reduce the risk of electric
shock. The charger is equipped with an electric cord having an
equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug
must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and
grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
WARNING! Never alter the AC cord or plug provided. If it will
not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified
electrician. Improper connection can result in the risk of an
electric shock.
BATTERY EQUALIZATION AND
RECONDITIONING
The charger can detect if the connected battery has too little
voltage for the recharge voltage selected. The charger will start a
pre-charge process until the battery is brought up to the minimum
voltage necessary to handle the power flow of a full recharge:
• battery under 4V when 6 Volt is selected.
• battery under 8V when 12 Volt is selected.
• battery under 16V when 24 Volt is selected.
The equalization process will last 20 minutes or until the battery
passes the minium voltage, before starting the normal charging
process at the selected amperage. The amerage ranges from 0.7 to
0.8A in equalization mode.
The charger can also detect if the connectors are clamped to the
wrong polarity. Switch the clamps to the correct terminals.
