Rules for proper maintenance of stainless steel products
During the life of the stainless steel product is necessary a regular (periodic) cleaning with a non-
abrasive cloth using water and neutral detergents that do not contain chlorine or ammonia. In the
scrubbing it is advised to follow the directionality of the brushing.
Here are some examples to remove stains and dirt.
• Limestone encrustations
- In case of light limescale sediments left by the water, use a multipurpose cleansing cream with a soft cloth.
- In case of thicker sediments, use a solution of very hot water and ¼ of vinegar. Then rinse
thoroughly with a solution of water and sodium bicarbonate. Then again with clean water. Finally dry
carefully.
• Stains of oil, grease and fingerprints (for example after installing the product)
- In case of normal stains, use a neutral cleanser in very hot water. Then rinse with clean water.
Dry with a soft cloth.
- In presence of stubborn stains, use ethyl alcohol, acetone or another non-halogenated solvent.
Then rinse with clean water. Dry with a soft cloth.
In both cases a protective oil can be applied (for example, a silicone based one) which prevent their
reappear over time.
• Surface scratches and persistent stains
- In this case it is necessary to apply a detergent, or alternatively a polishing product, suitable for
stainless steel, always using a soft cloth in the direction of the brushing. If the stain persists, apply a
passivation (or pickling) detergent specific for stainless steel.
