8. Maintenance
We recommend a planned maintenance contract with
an installation company
Maintenance of backflow preventer must be carried out
by authorized personnel!
8.1. Inspection
Interval: yearly
• To be carried out by an installation company
Inspection with a test control unit and maintenance-set
(see accessories)
The inspection should also include ancillary equipment such
as strainers and shutoff valves.
8.1.1. Testing inlet check valve
Take note of the instructions of the test control unit
TKA295 or TK295
1. Procedure according to instruction of the test control unit
TKA295 resp. TK295
8.1.2. Testing discharge valve
Take note of the instructions of the test control unit
TKA295 or TK295
1. Procedure according to instruction of the test control unit
TKA295 resp. TK295
Quick test for the discharge valve:
• Lower the inlet pressure
- if the discharge valve opens (it drops), the function
is o.k.
8.1.3. Testing outlet check valve
Take note of the instructions of the test control unit
TKA295 or TK295
1. Procedure according to instruction of the test control unit
TKA295 resp. TK295
8.2. Maintenance
We recommend a planned maintenance contract with
an installation company
In accordance with DIN EN 1717 a regular maintenance must
be taken.
Interval: yearly
• To be carried out by an installation company

8.2.1. Discharge valve
1. Close shutoff valve on inlet
2. Close shutoff valve on outlet
3. Release pressure using the three ball valves
4. Unscrew pressure control line
5. Open screws on the lid
6. Remove cover
7. Push clamp together and remove
8. Remove discharge valve upwards
• Clean or replace as required
9. Grease O-rings for drinking water installation well with
admissible greasing agent, replace damaged O-rings
10. Reassemble in reverse order
11. Test function (see chapter inspection)
8.2.2. Check valve
1. Close shutoff valve on inlet
2. Close shutoff valve on outlet
3. Release pressure using the three ball valves
4. Open screws on the lid
5. Remove cover
6. Push clamp together and remove
7. Twist securing ring out of the receiving slot
Risk of injury - Check valves are under spring tension!
8. Pull out the check valve
• disassemble the outlet check valve first, and the the
inlet check valve
• Clean or replace as required
• Leaking check valves must be replaced.
• If the edge seals are worn, you can switch the cases of
the two check valves with each other (see conversion
check valves)
9. Reassemble in reverse order
• Grease the O-ring on the check valve with greasing agent
admissible for drinking water
• Do not damage 'O' ring during assembly
10. Test function (see chapter inspection)
8.2.3. Conversion check valves
Risk of injury - Check valves are under spring tension!
1. Disassemble both check valves by loosening the
hexagon bolt
2. Assemble the housing of the inlet check valve with the
components of the outlet backflow preventer
3. Assemble the housing of the outlet check valve with the
components of the inlet check valve
