CLUTCH ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY SET
DISASSEMBLY
The use of the special tool is fundamental to disassemble the
SAC clutches. If you try to disassemble a SAC clutch without
its tool, the clutch will lose its adjustment and cause operating
problems, and you may damage the mechanism or injure yourself.
1. Unscrew and remove 3 screws from the clutch mechanism at
120°.
Select the screws (spacers) of the special tool suitable for the
clutch to be disassembled and position them in place of the 3
previously disassembled screws.
Then check the tightness with a wrench (fi g. 1).
Note: On some clutches, you will need to remove 4 90° screws
and use the 4 point star for the following steps. Nevertheless,
the process remains the same.
2. Position the socket stop screw in the centre of the 3- or
4-pointed star and screw in as far as it will go. Then position
everything on the spacers and lock the star on the spacers using
the nuts provided in the box.
3. Turn the push screw by hand until it touches the diaphragm
blades and then continue turning with a suitable wrench.
The diaphragm begins to compress (Figs. 2 and 3).
4. Once the diaphragm is fully compressed, loosen the last
remaining screws of the clutch mechanism (fi g. 4).
The clutch is now fully unscrewed.
5. Carefully loosen the tool stop screw completely. Resistance
can be felt and the clutch system must gradually move away
from the fl ywheel: this is normal.
6. Remove the tool (nuts securing the star, star + stop screw
and spacers). You can now safely remove the clutch and its
mechanism.
