Some tips for cooking food
Most foods are suitable for slow cooking methods; however there are some guidelines that must be followed:
Cut the vegetables into small, homogeneous pieces.
Sauté in a pan for 2-3 minutes before cooking them slowly.
Do not cook frozen food directly, but let it defrost before cooking.
Make sure that the vegetables are always placed on the bottom of the pan and that all the ingredients are im-
mersed in the cooking liquid.
Remove all the excess fat from the meat before cooking, as the slow cooking method does not allow the fat to
evaporate.
In slow cooking the liquid does not evaporate to the same extent as traditional cooking.
Do not use the slow cooker to heat the food.
The slow-cooking pot must be at least half filled to ensure better results.
Do not use the ceramic pot as a container to store food.
The lid is not a sealed fit. Don't remove it unnecessarily as the built up heat will escape. Each time you remove
the lid, allow an additional 10 minutes to the cooking time.
It is advisable never to fill the pot to the brim but to leave at least 4-5 cm of space.
