8. Setting into Operation
Protection shield (Abb. 2)
Slide the hand guard onto the hand guard plate at the
front side of the housing. To fix the hand guard put the
included screw through the openings in the protection
shield into the holes of the housing and firmly tighten it.
• Insert the charged battery into the hedge trimmer.
The red locking latch at the battery must properly lock
in place.
• Hold the hedge trimmers with both hands on the re-
spective handles.
• Concurrently push both switches at the front and rear
handles (the rear switch will be released by pushing
the switch-on lock button A) (Fig. 3).
Attention: These battery-operated hedge trimmers
have double safety turning-on feature. They can only
be started if both switches are pressed.
• To turn the machine off, all you have to do is to release
the switches. The hedge trimmers are turned off even
if only one switch is released.
• After turning off the machine and before taking further
steps, make sure that the blade has stopped.
9. Instructions for Operating the Accu Hedge
trimmers
• It is best to cut young sprouts with a swinging move-
ment of the hedge trimmers, similarly like when cut-
ting with a scythe.
• It is best to cut older and thicker hedges by moving
the blade to and fro just like when moving a saw.
• Branches which are too thick for the cutting blade
should be cut off with a saw.
• The width of the hedge should be adjusted with
movement from bottom to the top.
• Stretch a string around the hedge so that you attain
the same height everywhere.
• Position the hedge trimmers in such a way so that
the blade is inclined towards the hedge at the angle
of 15°.
Note: The double-sided cutting ability of the blade allows
for cutting in both directions.
10. Precautions
Your hedge trimmers have the following important safety
features:
Two-handed safety cut-out
When one of the two switches is released, the hedge
trimmers turn off.
Safety blade
The blade, located after the rack, decreases the risk of
injury resulting from an accidental contact with the body.
Protection against reverse impact
The guiding gib projecting on the front prevents the un-
pleasant reverse impacts caused by the move-ment of
the blade from being transmitted to the operating person
when the machine hits a solid object (a wall, a fence,
the ground).

11. Maintenance and Care
• Caution - Risk of injury! Before any maintenance
and any interference with the hedge trimmers,
always take out the batteries.
• Each time after the machine is used, the blade must
be cleaned and oiled. This will substantially prolong
the service life of the battery-operated hedge trim-
mers. Use such a lubricant which is friendly to the
environment.
• Damaged or blunt blades must be replaced in a serv-
ice shop because the replacement requires a quali-
fied personnel. Only installation of the blade carried
out by a qualified personnel guarantees problem-free
operation.
• It is best to clean the plastic parts with a wet cloth and
a soft detergent. Never use aggressive detergents or
solvents. Do not pour water into the machine.
• Store the hedge trimmers in a dry place protected
against frost and out of children's reach.
• When storing the batteries for the wintertime, the bat-
teries should be fully charged.
• Always store the hedge trimmers with the blade cover
put on.
• Do not make more extensive repairs to the hedge
trimmers than as stated in the manual with the in-
structions for use.
12. Environmental protection
If this hedge trimmer should some day have been used
in such an intensive way that it must be replaced or you

mestic refuse, but should be supplied for environmentally
friendly recycling in accordance with the applicable local
