Inspect the hydraulic ram immediately if it was subjected to an abnormal
load or shock load.

Remove any hydraulic pump from service that is damaged, worn down or
operates abnormally, until repaired by an authorized service technician.
5.
Check and maintain the ram oil level.
6.
Always store the hydraulic ram in the fully retracted position. This will
help protect critical areas from corrosion.
7.
Do not use brake or transmission fluids or regular motor oil as they can
damage the seals. Always purchase and use products labeled Hydraulic Oil.
REPLACING THE HYDRAULIC JACK OIL
Replace the jack oil annually. Only use anti-foaming jack oil.
1.
Lower the ram and saddle.
2.
Open the release valve by turning the handle counterclockwise.
3.
Remove the four screws (#16) and lift the cover plate (#38) off the
frame (C).
4.
Remove the oil filler plug (#2).
5.
Remove the saddle (B).
6.
Lay the jack on its side and drain the oil into a suitable container.
Dispose of used hydraulic oil in accordance with local by-laws.
7.
Stand the jack on its wheels and casters and wipe off any excess oil.
8.
Fill the cylinder with a high-quality hydraulic jack oil to just beneath
the lower rim of the oil fill hole.
9.
Reinsert the oil filler plug.
10. Reinsert the saddle.
11.
Follow the steps in Bleeding the Hydraulic System.
BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
Bleed excess air from the hydraulic system as follows:
1.
Remove the four screws (#16) and lift the cover plate (#38) off the frame (C).
2.
Open the release valve by turning the handle counterclockwise one full turn.
3.
Pump the handle for 6 to 8 full strokes to eliminate any air in the system.
Leave the handle in the down position to reveal the oil filler plug (#2).
4.
Unscrew the oil filler plug enough to allow the trapped air to escape.
Retighten the plug.
