Notes on (rechargeable) batteries
You can also use a rechargeable battery to operate the radio-controlled
clock. However, the operating time and display contrast will decrease due
to the decreased voltage (battery = 1.5 V, rechargeable battery = 1.2 V).
• Keep (rechargeable) batteries out of the reach of children. Do not leave (recharge-
able) batteries lying about. Children or pets may swallow batteries left lying about,
posing a risk of fatal injury! If a battery has been swallowed, seek medical attention
immediately.
• Never disassemble, short-circuit or throw rechargeable batteries into fire, this pos-
es a risk of explosion.
• Expired or used (rechargeable) batteries can leak chemical liquids that cause dam-
age to the device. Leaking or damaged (rechargeable) batteries can cause burns
when in contact with skin. You should thus wear suitable gloves in such a case.
Heed correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting/replacing (rechargeable)

Battery compartment cover
Operation
• Open the battery compartment by folding down the battery compartment cover (7).
• Insert one AA/Mignon battery into the battery compartment, observing correct po-
larity (positive/+ and negative/-).
• Reclose the battery compartment.
• After you insert the battery, the clock immediately shows all display elements. Then
the room temperature is shown at the bottom right of the display.
• The automatic search for the DCF time signal now begins.
The DCF signal is a signal broadcast from Mainflingen,
Germany (near Frankfurt am Main). Its range is 1500 km
(932 miles), under ideal reception conditions even up to
2000 km (1242 miles).
The DCF signal contains the exact time of day and time
among other things.
There is also no need to manually set daylight saving and
standard time.
• The small radio tower display flashes at the top right of the display while the product
searches for the DCF signal.
Good reception of DCF signal
No reception of DCF signal
Do not place the radio-controlled clock next to electronic devices, metal
parts, cables, etc. Poor reception is also to be expected in the vicinity of
metal-coated insulated glass windows, reinforced concrete, coated spe-
cialist wallpaper or in cellar spaces.
• Reception and analysis of the DCF signal may take up to 8 minutes. Do not move the
radio-controlled clock during this time. Do not push any buttons.
When the clock has successfully analyzed the DCF signal, the current time and date
appear in the display and the radio tower symbol stops flashing.
The automatic search for the time signal repeats daily at 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00 and 5:00
am. One successful reception a day is enough to keep the clock time from differing
from the actual time by less than a second.
If the clock does not show the current time after approx. 10 minutes, change
its location. Then restart the search for the time signal or set the time manu-
ally, see "Manually starting DCF search".
• A small sun symbol appears at the top right of the display during daylight saving
time.
