5.4 Dust connection
Before initial operation, the machine
must be connected to a dust extractor.
The suction should switch on
automatically when the shaper is
switched on.
The flow rate on both 100 mm suction
ports must be 20m/sec.
Flexible hoses must be of "non-
flammable" quality, and must be
connected to the machine ground
system.
5.5 Starting operation
You can start the machine with the
green ON-button (F, Fig 3).
The red OFF-button (G) on the main
switch stops the machine.
Fig 3
Make sure that the spindle is running
the correct direction (counter-
clockwise).
If the yellow magnetic key (E, Fig 3) is
removed the machine cannot be
operated.
In case of overload the motor overload
cut-off will react. After approximately
10 minutes of cooling the machine
can be started again.
6. Machine operation
Correct operating position:
Position yourselves offset to the
machine front (Fig 4).
Fig 4
Workpiece handling:
Feed the workpiece straight across the
machine table, holding your fingers
close together, guiding the workpiece
with the palm of your hands.
Never put your hands under or behind
the shaper guard.
Always keep your hands well clear of
the rotating cutter.
Always feed the workpiece against the
cutter rotation (Fig 4).
Use a push block when working the
ends of narrow stock.
Use a feeding aid if you are going to
work a workpiece shorter than
300mm.
Always machine the workpiece over
its entire length.
Recess machining may only be
carried out with the aid of suitable
longitudinal workpiece stops (Fig 5)
....high danger of kickback!!!
Fig 5
Tenoning work requires the optionaly
available tenoning carriage (see
chapter 7.9)
Make trial cuts on a piece of scrap
before working the actual workpiece.
Support long workpieces with helping
roller stands or table extensions.
Always work one workpiece at a time.
6
Never operate with the guards not in
place – serious risk of injury!
Always keep your hands well clear of
the rotating tool.
Never machine a workpiece if it
cannot be guided properly and safely
with sufficient distance to the cutting
tool.
When working complex shapes, make
jigs and guides to guide the workpiece
properly and safely.
Adapt the spindle speed to the cutting
tool diameter.
For the authorized use of the
machine observe the appendix A
"safe operation"
(on the last pages of this operating
manual)
A.1: machining of boards
A.2.: Longitudinal machining
A.3.: Face machining
A.4.: Recess machining.
A.5.: Contour machining
7. Setup and adjustments
General note:
Setup and adjustment work may
only be carried out after the
machine is protected against
accidental starting by pulling the
mains plug.
Make sure that the cutter is running
clear after every setup or adjustment
done.
7.1 Spindle speed setting
Warning:
The spindle speed must be
selected according to the cutter
diameter.
The cutting speed in m/sec
corresponding to tool diameter and
spindle speed can be seen on the
diagram (Fig 6).
The diagram also can be found on the
cabinet door.
