Checking the chain brake

The saw chain does not turn if the
chain brake is engaged.
1. Release the chain brake by shifting
the brake arm (4) over against the
front grip.
2. Place the electric chainsaw onto a
solid, flat surface. It must not contact
any objects.
3. Connect the device to the mains volt-
age.
4. Hold the electric chainsaw firmly with
both hands, with the right hand on the
rear grip and the left hand on the front
handle. Thumb and finger must close
securely over the handles (see
5. Turn on the electric chainsaw. (See
"Switching On").
6. Activate the chain braking lever (4),
with running motor, with the left hand.
Chain should stop abruptly..
7. Once the chain brake is working prop-
erly, release the on/off switch and the
chain brake.
If the chain brake does not func-
tion correctly, you must not use
the electric chainsaw. A slack
saw chain leads to danger of in-
jury.

Checking the oil automatic
system
Check the oil level and the oil automatic
system before commencement of work.
Switch on the chainsaw and hold it
above a bright background. The saw
must not touch the ground.
142
If an oil trace can be seen, the chainsaw
is working trouble-free.
Oils can become viscous in cold
weather.
If no trace of oil appears, it may
be necessary to clean the oil out-
let channel or to have the electric
chainsaw repaired by our customer
service.

Sawing techniques

General

Observe the noise protection and
).
local regulations when cutting
wood. Local requirements may
require a suitability test. Ask the
forestry commission.
Dirt, stones, loose bark, nails, staples
and wire must be removed from the
tree.
For sawing work on a slope, always
stand above the tree trunk.
To keep control at the moment of
"sawing through", reduce the contact
pressure at the end of the cut without
loosening the firm grip on the chain-
saw handles. Ensure that the saw
chain does not come into contact with
the ground.
After completing the cut, wait for the
chainsaw to come to a standstill be-
fore removing the chainsaw.
Always switch off the chainsaw motor
before moving from one tree to an-
other.
Lay the connecting lead such that
it will not be caught on branches or
similar during sawing.
