COMMUNICATIONS
Multicast and IGMP communications must not be fi ltered. Normally in a LAN (local area network) such
communications are not fi ltered so you do not have to do anything. However, in case of VLAN's (virtual
networks) these communications may be fi ltered. In this case, the network administrator must allow multicast
and IGMP between VLANs in a bidirectional way. The default ports used in the system are:
- UDP MULTICAST 30612: For inter-device communications.
- UDP MULTICAST 31000 onwards: For audio streams.
- UDP UNICAST 69: For sending audio fi les and remote updates.
IMPORTANT: if the setting has not been set in the confi guration, when the AIP-GO program is running,
the rest of the equipment might not be detected or the actions performed from the AIP-GO program
(volume changes, channel playback order, confi guration changes, etc.) might not be applied.
ABOUT AIP-GO SOFTWARE AND WINDOWS
The AIP-GO programme uses the network interface that Windows considers by default. If, for example,
-
a laptop is used with Wi-Fi enabled and the network cable is connected to the network where the AIP
devices are located, the devices may not be visible in the AIP-GO programme.
Solution: disable the Wi-Fi interface and restart the program or change the network interface priority
using the parameter. One method to change the interface priority in Windows is to disable the automatic
metric on the Wi-Fi interface and set it to a high value manually.
To set up the automatic metric feature:
1.- In Control Panel, double-click Network Connections.
2.- Right-click a network interface, and then select Properties.
3.- Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then select Properties.
4.- On the General tab, select Advanced.
5.- To specify a metric, on the IP Confi guration tab, clear the Auto metric check box, then type the
desired metric in the Interface metric fi eld. For example 1800.
-
There may be virtual network interfaces that take precedence and block multicast traffi c. This is the case,
for example, when Virtualbox is installed on Windows.
Solution: the solution is the same in this case: disable the network or change the network priority in
Windows and restart the AIP-GO program.
