6. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The leaf vacuum unit type 521 is standard delivered with a 5 meter heavy duty
suction hose and suction pipe with adjustable handle. (see pages 11 and 12).
This handle is adjustable for correct body length and for left- and right-handed
people. During the operation the hose is suspended by a swing arm (see page 11
and 12), so that you can work standing up straight with a correctly adjusted handle.
The discharge chute should always be installed in such manner that all material is
blown out safely into a closed container.
During operation you will move the vacuum pipe over the soil, in such manner that a
regular supply of leaves and air can take place. Do not pull the hose to a tight bend in
front of the impeller housing entry. In case however that any material is blocked in the
suction hose, you can open the entry to the impeller housing, but always after
stopping the machine first.
For your safety, the engine will run only if the lock bolt is fully tightened and in contact
with the safety switch. Never operate the machine without the suction hose installed,
the impeller housing entry closed and the safety switch operating properly.
To rotate the round ejection pipe of the 525, loosen the knob (page 11), rotate pipe
and tighten the knob.
To rotate the round ejection pipe of the 546, pull out the spring-loaded latch (page
12), rotate pipe and let the latch lock on into a hole. Never do this while the engine is
running. Do not start engine before ensuring that the ejected material will not cause a
danger.
Put the hose in its designated mounting brackets during transportation.
6.1 Installing machine
Install the suction pipe, suction hose, swing arm and discharge chute . Before working
with the machine a test needs to be carried out first, in order to verify that all parts are
fuctioning correctly. Take care that, during this test, no materials can be aspirated.
6.2 Starting the machine
Never start the machine without the hoses and chutes installed. After studying and
following the instructions in the separate Honda engine manual and the instructions
mentioned above, start the engine.
Make sure that at start-up the suction pipe is free and no material can be aspirated.
Then after verifying that material can be blown out safely into the destined collection
compartment, start to pick up material slowly and increase the working speed according
to your experience building up.
