ELECTRONICS FOR SPECIALISTS
Network Camera
These instructions are intended for installers of
video surveillance systems. Please read the in-
structions carefully prior to installation and keep
them for later reference. The figures mentioned
in the descriptions below can be found on an
additional sheet.
1 Applications
The camera INC-4000BX is specially designed for
video surveillance systems based on computer net-
works. It is equipped with a 4 megapixel image
sensor. The camera features include mirror image,
masking of image areas and image analysis functions
(e. g. motion detection). The camera is provided with
an integrated web server with 3-way video stream-
ing. For correct configuration, knowledge of network
technology is indispensable.
The camera can be operated in combination with
a network video recorder (e. g. NWR-...*) or oper-
ated independently via a web browser. It is equipped
with two audio inputs and one audio output so that
mutual communication via a computer will be pos-
sible. A switching output is provided for switching
devices, e. g. triggered by integrated motion detec-
tion. The camera also offers an alarm input. This
input can be used, for example, to start recordings or
e-mail messages. A slot for memory cards allows you
to make video recordings in the camera according to
schedule or triggered by an image analysis function.
The RS-485 interface can be used to control a pan /
tilt head via the PTZ functions on the computer or
video recorder.
*Hint: If this camera model does not appear in the list of
the recorder used, select the ONVIF protocol.
2 Important Notes
The camera corresponds to all relevant directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with
The camera is suitable for indoor use only. For
outdoor installation, insert the camera into a
weather-proof housing.
Protect the camera against dust and humidity. The
admissible ambient temperature range is −10 °C
to +50 °C.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use
water or chemicals.
No guarantee claims for the camera and no liabil-
ity for any resulting personal damage or material
damage will be accepted if the camera is used for
other purposes than originally intended, if it is not
correctly connected or operated, or if it is not re-
paired in an expert way. Likewise, no liability will
be accepted for any data loss due to operating er-
rors or a defect or for any consequential damage
caused by this data loss.
If the camera is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling plant
for a disposal which is not harmful to the
environment.
3 Lens
Either use a lens with DC-controlled iris (DC lens) or
a lens with manual iris control.
Caution: Protect the image sensor chip and the lens
against dust and dirt. Never touch them with your fingers.
1) Remove the protective cap.
2) Screw a CS-mount lens directly onto the ring (1).
For C-mount lenses, use the adapter ring provided.

3) When using a lens with DC-controlled iris, use
the connector (5) on the side of the camera to
connect the lens. The pin configuration of the
connector is as follows (

4 Installation
1) A test operation is recommended in order to find
the best mounting location. Then fasten the cam-
era to a support using the thread on the upper
side of the camera housing. For fastening the
support to the lower side of the camera, install
the base (2) provided underneath the camera by
means of the two screws.
Caution: Do not aim the camera directly at the sun
or other bright light sources; this may reduce the life
of the image sensor.
2) Connect the camera via the RJ45 jack NIC (11) to
an individual computer, a local computer network
or, e. g. via a router, to larger computer networks
(Internet).
The LEDs at the jack and the LED at the front
(4) will indicate network connection and network
activity.
3) To align the camera and to adjust the lens, con-
nect the analog input of a monitor to the BNC
jack VIDEO OUT* (16) or display the camera image
via a computer (
distance on the lens. When a lens with manual iris
control is used, adjust the iris to optimum image
reproduction (depth of field and brightness).
When the image is out of focus although the dis-
tance has been correctly adjusted, turn the ring (1)
to readjust the lens: Loosen the locking screw (3),
make the adjustment and fasten the screw again.
* The output "Device CVBS" must be activated in
the camera settings (
.
4) For audio transmission via the network, connect
one or two audio sources with line level (e. g.
microphone with preamplifier) to the 3.5 mm
jacks AUDIO IN A / B (15).
5) For audio reproduction, connect a headphone
amplifier or an audio system to the 3.5 mm jack
AUDIO OUT (14).
6) To evaluate an alarm device, connect the termi-
nals COM and IN (7) via a normally open contact
or normally closed contact (to be selected in the
camera settings).
To switch a device, e. g. via a relay, connect the
switching output of the camera via the terminals
COM and OUT (6). Select the switching character-
istic (normally open contact / normally closed con-
tact, pulse) in the camera settings. The maximum
power rating of the output is ⎓ 12 V/ 300 mA.
7) Connect a pan/tilt head to be controlled via
RS-485 to the terminals RS485 (13).
8) For
independent
camera, insert a memory card of the type
"micro SD[HC / XC]" (128 GB max.) into the slot
(8). Push the card (contacts pointing downwards)
into the slot until it engages. The LED SD (9) will
light up when a card has been inserted.
Never remove the card while a recording is
being made! To remove the card, push the card
into the slot until it disengages.
9) Connect a regulated 12 V power supply unit with
a permanent rating of 300 mA (e. g. PSS-1205DC)
to the terminals (10). Always observe the correct

polarity. It is also possible to use a 24 V AC power
source. The LED PWR (9) will light up.
Alternatively, use the network cable (Power
over Ethernet IEEE 802.3af) to supply the camera
with power.
5 Connecting the Camera to a Network
To be able to directly address the camera for config-
uration via a computer, its IP address is factory-set to
192.168.0.120. The current address of the camera
will be shown in the video signal at the analog output
VIDEO OUT (16) if the signal output and the insertion
"IP Show" have been activated in the camera set-
tings "Device   CVBS" (
 chapter 6).
If you do not know the current address of the cam-
era, start the program "IPSearch.exe" (available
on the Monacor homepage: www.monacor.com
  Support   Downloads) to find the camera in the
network.
1) To start the search, click the button "Start" of
the tab "Multicast Search". The list on the left
will show the cameras found in the network
(
 fig. 2).
2) To stop the search, click the button "Stop".
3) Select the camera from the list. The current set-
tings of this camera can be found on the right.
4) Change the settings as required:
IP address, subnet mask and gateway address
can be defined as static values (select the option
"Device uses the following IP address"). Enter a
unique IP address for each camera. If a DHCP server
is available in the network (e. g. in the router or
network video recorder), this server will be able to
automatically make settings for the camera (select
the option "Device obtains an IP address auto-
matically"). The values assigned automatically are
highlighted in grey and cannot be changed.
5) Click the button "Modify". After successful
transmission of the modifications, the message
"Modify success!" will appear.
6) Before you start a new search, click the button
"Clear All" to delete the list.
6 Calling up the Camera via a Computer
To call up the user interface of the camera, enter its IP
address in the address bar of the program Windows
Internet Explorer (IE, version 6 or higher). The IP ad-
dresses of the computer and of the camera must be
in the same subnet.
Windows is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation in the
USA and other countries.
When the camera is called up, the log-in window will
appear. Select the language for the user interface.
The description below refers to English. Then enter
the user name and the password (default setting
for both: admin). If you use the default password,
a request to change the password will appear. It is
recommended to change the password to prevent
unauthorized access. Individual log-in data can also
be defined later in the camera settings. If you change
the password, make sure to remember it!
To make all functions available, installation of the
ActiveX extensions is required. These extensions will
be loaded from the camera when the camera is called
up for the first time. If necessary, reduce the security
settings of the IE accordingly to allow the installation
process. Save the installation file "NetworkSurveil-
lance.exe" to the computer, close the IE and execute
the file.
