Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Einbau in einen PC-kompatiblen Computer vorgesehen und
dient dazu, eine IDE-Gerät (z.B. IDE-Festplatte, IDE-CD-/-DVDROM usw.) an eine
SATA-Schnittstelle eines SATA-Controllers anzuschließen.

Einbau
Falls Sie keine Fachkenntnisse für den Einbau besitzen, so lassen Sie
den Einbau von einer FACHKRAFT oder einer entsprechenden
Fachwerkstatt durchführen!
Durch unsachgemäßen Einbau wird sowohl die Platine als auch Ihr
Computer und alle angeschlossenen Geräte beschädigt.
Vorsicht, Lebensgefahr!
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den die Platine eingebaut werden soll
und alle angeschlossenen Geräte aus und trennen Sie alle Geräte von
der Netzspannung, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker! Das Ausschalten über
den Ein-/Ausschalter genügt nicht!
• Öffnen Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers und nehmen Sie den Gehäusedeckel
vorsichtig ab.
• Verbinden Sie die Platine mit einer 40poligen IDE-Schnittstelle eines IDE-Geräts.
Achten Sie auf korrekten Anschluss; achten Sie darauf, dass die Platine nicht um
einen Pin versetzt aufgesteckt wird.
Ein "Loch" der Buchsenleiste ist verschlossen; dies verhindert normalerweise das
falsche Aufstecken der Buchsenleiste. Beachten Sie das Bild oben für das korrek-
te Aufstecken!
Die Adapterplatine darf auf keinen Fall auf den 40poligen Anschluss eines
IDE-Controllers (von Mainboard oder PCI-Controller) aufgesteckt werden!
Verbinden Sie die 40polige Buchsenleiste nur mit dem entsprechenden
Stecker eines IDE-Geräts, z.B. einer IDE-Festplatte.
• Verbinden Sie den SATA-Anschluss auf der Platine über ein dazu geeignetes Kabel
mit einem Port des SATA-Controllers. Die SATA-Stecker sind jeweils verdrehsicher
und passen nur in einer Position.
• Verbinden Sie die Strombuchse auf der Platine des Mini-Konverters und die
Strombuchse des IDE-Geräts mit dem Netzteil Ihres PCs.
• Schließen Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers wieder.
• Verbinden Sie Ihren Computer und Monitor mit der Netzspannung und schalten Sie
alle Geräte ein.
• Startet Ihr Computer nicht korrekt, so schalten Sie ihn sofort aus und kontrollieren

Sie sämtliche Einstellungen und Kabelverbindungen.
Vor dem erneuten Öffnen des PCs ist der PC von der Netzspannung zu

trennen, siehe oben!
Treiber-Installation
Da der Konverter nur die beiden Schnittstellen-Bauarten aneinander anpasst, ist kei-
ne Treiberinstallation erforderlich, es liegt auch keine Treiberdiskette oder -CD bei!
Der SATA-Controller behandelt das am Mini-Konverter angeschlossene IDE-Gerät
genauso wie ein herkömmliches Gerät mit SATA-Schnittstelle.
Tipps & Hinweise
• Wenn Sie am Konverter eine unformatierte "neue" Festplatte angeschlossen
haben, so muss die Festplatte vor der Verwendung partitioniert und formatiert
werden.
• Der Mini-Konverter erlaubt auch den Betrieb von CD-/DVDROM-Laufwerken, CD-
/DVD-Brennern usw. an der SATA-Schnittstelle.
Beachten Sie die Anleitung zu Ihrem SATA-Controller (auf Mainboard oder PCI-
Steckkarte), ob dies unterstützt wird. Einige SATA-Controller erlauben nämlich nur
IDE-Festplatten - und keine anderen IDE-Geräte!
• Wenn Sie Probleme beim Betrieb von CD-/DVD-/ATAPI-Laufwerken feststellen
(z.B. Gerät wird nicht erkannt, Schreib-/Leseprobleme o.ä.), so entfernen Sie die
HDD...
Steckbrücke "JP2" von der Platine.
• Achten Sie darauf, dass sowohl der Mini-Konverter als auch das IDE-Gerät mit
dem PC-Netzteil verbunden werden.
• Falls die am LED-Anschluss angeschlossene Leuchtdiode bei Zugriff auf das IDE-
Gerät nicht leuchten sollte, so ziehen Sie den LED-Stecker ab und stecken Sie ihn
um 180° gedreht wieder auf.
• Achten Sie beim Aufstecken des Mini-Konverters auf das IDE-Gerät darauf, dass
der Mini-Konverter nicht um einen Pin verschoben aufgesteckt wird.
Entsorgung
Entsorgen Sie das Produkt am Ende seiner Lebensdauer gemäß den gel-
tenden gesetzlichen Vorschriften.

Intended Use
This product is intended for installation into a PC-compatible computer and serves
to connect an IDE device (e.g. IDE hard drive, IDE CR-ROM/DVD-ROM etc.) to a SATA
interface of a SATA controller.

Installation
If you do not have the necessary expertise for installation, let an
EXPERT or a corresponding workshop carry out the installation.
Improper installation will damage the board as well as your compu-
ter and all connected appliances.
Careful, Mortal Danger!
Turn off the computer into which you want to install the card as well
as all other connected appliances and pull the power plug on all
appliances! Merely turning the computer off via the on/off switch is
not sufficient!
• Open the housing of your computer and carefully remove the cover.
• Connect the board with a 40-pole IDE interface of an IDE device. Observe the pro-
per connection and make sure than the board is not shifted by one pin.
One "hole" above the female connector strip is closed. This normally prevents the
wrong attachment of the strip. See the illustration above for the correct attach-
ment!
Never attach the adapter board to the 40-pole connector of an IDE control-
ler (of the mainboard or the PCI controller)!
Only connect the 40-pole female socket strip with the corresponding plug
of an IDE device, e.g. an IDE hard drive.
• Connect the SATA connection on the board via a suitable cable with a port of the
SATA controller. The SATA plugs have an anti-twist protection and only fit in one
position.
• Connect the power socket on the circuit board of the miniature converter and the
power socket of the IDE device with the power pack unit of your PC.
• Close the casing of your computer.
• Connect your compute and the monitor to the power supply and turn all devices on.
• If your computer does not start properly, turn it off immediately and check all set-

tings and cable connections.
Prior to opening the PC again, disconnect it from the power supply
again (see above)!

Driver Installation
As the converter only adapts the two interface models to each other, it is not neces-
sary to install a driver. There is no driver disk or CD enclosed!
The SATA controller treats the IDE device connected to the miniature converter just
like a common device with SATA interface.
Tips and Notices
• If you connect a reformatted "new" hard disk to the converter, you must partition
and format the hard drive prior to using it.
• The miniature converter also allows you to operate CD/DVD-ROM drives, CD/DVD
burners etc. on the SATA interface.
Please also consult the operating instructions of your SATA controller (on the
mainboard or PCI plug&play board) to see whether this is supported. Some SATA
controllers only allow IDE hard drives and no other IDE devices!
• If you experience problems while operating CD/DVD/ATAPI drives (e.g. device is
not detected, read/write problems or similar), remove the jumper "JP2" from the
circuit board.
HDD... • Make sure that you connect both the miniature converter as well as the IDE devi-
ce with the PC power supply.
• In case the LED connected to the LED connector does not light up upon access of
the IDE device, pull the LED plug and plug it in after turning it by 180°.
• When attaching the miniature converter to the IDE device, make sure you do not
shift it by a pin.
Disposal
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the rele-
vant statutory regulations.
