Explanation of Symbols, Inscriptions
This symbol indicates a health hazard, e.g. electric shock.
The exclamation mark indicates particular risks in handling, function and use.
The „Hand" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.
The device is suitable for direct mounting on normal flammable surfaces.
The product complies with protection class III.
The product is only intended for installation and use in indoor areas.
Only a „self-shielded" halogen bulb may be used (observe the label on the bulb's
packaging).
Keep a minimum clearance between the mirror light and the illuminated
areas (e.g., easily flammable objects like curtains or the like). The
0.3m
respective minimum clearance is indicated on the wall light (in the
example picture to the left, the minimum clearance is 0.3m).
Safety Instructions
Please read all the operating instructions before using the product for the
first time; they contain important information regarding correct operation.
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequential
damage!
Nor do we assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty will
be void in such cases
• For safety reasons (CE), any unauthorised conversion and/or modification to the
product is not permitted.
• The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children! Install the
light so that it cannot be reached by children.
• Only a bulb with G4 socket and max. 20W output should be installed and
operated in the mirror light. Light sources with a higher wattage will lead to over-
heating of the light, which increases the danger of fire!
• Before replacing/inserting an illuminant, disconnect the mirror light from the
mains supply.
• This product is only to be installed and used in dry indoor areas.
• Do not use the mirror light in spaces, or in adverse ambient conditions, where
combustible gases, vapours or dust are or may be present! There is a risk of
explosion!
• Do not hang or attach objects (e.g. decorative material) to the light, there is a risk
of fire!
• To avoid eye injury, do not look at the light source or point the light at persons or
animals.
Version 10/13
• The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or
heavy mechanical stress.
• If you have a reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, dis-
connect the product immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation.
Have an expert check the product.
A safe operation can no longer be assumed, if:
- the product shows visible signs of damage,
- the product does not work at all or well (flickering light, leaking smoke or a smell
of burning, audible cracking noises, discolouration to the product or the adjacent
surfaces.)
- the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- the device was exposed to extraordinary stress caused by transport.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous
playthings for children.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the employer's
liability insurance association for electrical systems and operating facilities are to
be observed!
Preparations for Installation
Only operate the mirror light with a bulb having a G4 socket and max. 20W output.
Halogen lights:
A suitable 12V halogen transformer is required for operation. If several halogen
lamps are connected to the halogen transformer, a parallel connection must be
used. Make sure that the halogen transformer provides the appropriate output to
operate the lamp(s).
LED light:
The light can also be operated with an energy-saving bulb with G4 socket. Observe
the technical data, the operating instructions or any other information of the LED
light's manufacturer for the appropriate power supply.
Generally, LED bulbs with G4 sockets can be operated with a halogen transformer.
It is essential to ensure that the halogen transformer is suitable for the low electrical
performance of LED bulbs.
Other LED bulbs need a so-called LED driver or a constant current source; observe
the correct polarity (Plus/+ and Minus/-)!
In case of doubt, contact a specialist, as the LED light will be damaged if you use a
wrong power supply.
Caution!
In case work must be carried out on the mains supply during installation and
assembly of the power source (e.g. halogen transformer), this may only be
performed by a qualified electrician, who is familiar with the relevant
regulations (e.g. VDE)!
Improper work, carried out on the mains voltage, endangers not only your
own life but also the life of others!
If you do not have the expertise required for the installation, do not install it
yourself but entrust a qualified electrician.
• The power must be disconnected, during the installation and connection of the mirror light.
• The light must be installed and used out of the reach of children.
• Only install the light on a stable surface. Use screws and plugs that are suitable for the surface.
The operation of the product is only permitted when firmly mounted.
Installation
• The light can be mounted on a suitable base, using two countersunk screws; appropriate
dowels might be required.
When drilling holes, mounting or screwing into place, ensure that no existing
electrical cable, gas or water pipes are damaged.
The connection cable can be led to the outside through a slot on the underside of the mounting
foot. You can also hide the cable; to do this, drill a hole for the base underneath the mounting
location.
• Connect the light's connection cable with the power supply (e.g. low-voltage socket of a
halogen transformer).
• If the glass lamp head is not already mounted at delivery, plug it into the threads of the lamp
and secure it with the screw ring.
Do not exert any force when tightening the screw ring, otherwise the glass lamp
head breaks into pieces, risk of injury!
• Put a light bulb with a G4 socket (max. 20W) into the light socket.
