Phase 1
Phase 1: The belt works at full efficiency: Even a slight amount of pressure on the belt will remove a lot of material.
The bristle tips are sharp and straight. They don't break off.
Phase 2: The sharp bristle tips have become dull. The operator increased pressure on the belt to try to compensate
for the deceased efficiency of the slowly dulling tips. This caused the bristles to be bent backwards and
some of the bristle tips fell out.The belt is worn out and must be changed.
Phase 3: If you do not change the belt in Phase 2, the condition of the belt will be as shown in Phase 3.
Explanation: A traditional sanding disc is used up in a constant curve (see diagram) and you can see how much
it has been used and how much life remains. Conversely, in Phase 1, the belt operates with no visible wear for
a long time. The rapid progression to Phase 2 and then to Phase 3 is considered normal.
Tipp: If the belt begins to lose efficiency, check the belt bristles for wear. If wear has progressed to Phase 2,
change the belt. Increasing the pressure is incorrect use and will reduce the life of the belt. You can extend the life of the
belt in Phase 1 by re-sharpening the bristles, as described below.
Do not bear down excessively
= extended lifespan
