Machine characteristics

The wall chaser can be operated with and without
dust extraction. The machines have motors with
overload protection and a starting lockout. The
motor and the gearbox are protected against dust
and are, therefore, durable.

Intended Use

The BMF 501 wall chaser is only suitable for cutting
chases (chasing) in masonry (soft construction ma-
terials). It may not be used for cutting or chasing in
wood, concrete, hard lime-sand blocks and similar
hard materials.
Observe the relevant regulations in your
country for the materials to be machined.

Before Starting Work

To ensure safe working with the wall chaser, the
following points must be observed before each use:
•
Read through all safety instructions and warn-
ings in this instruction manual.
•
Check whether the voltage on the rating plate is
identical with the mains voltage.
•
Before each use, check the machine, connec-
tion cable, plug and tight fit of the cutter.
•
Use only BAIER cutters to ensure adequate
safety.
•
Only use the cutters recommended by
Maschinenfabrik OTTO BAIER GmbH for the re-
spective area of use (see Table on page 29).
•
Check the cutters for perfect fit and check that
they are properly fastened.
•
Never switch on the wall chaser without the dust
extractor cover.
•
Wear protective clothing such as hard hat,
hearing protection or safety goggles, safety
gloves and if necessary an apron.
•
If materials that produce harmful dusts are cut
(e.g. quartz sand), a suitable dust extractor
(e.g. BAIER special dust extractor) must be
connected to the wall chaser.
NOTE
We can only guarantee the machine's full per-
formance if it is used with a special BAIER dust
extractor.

Operation and control

5.1

Fit or replace cutter

Good cutting and chasing results can only be
achieved with sharp cutters.
Sharpening is best carried out by Maschinenfabrik
OTTO BAIER or a maintenance and repair firm
authorised by us.
