DESCRIPTION

CSS 203 is intend to monitor permanently an audio signal. Inserted into an audio path,CSS203 is
able to monitor two stereo balanced (not simultaneously) to a stereo balanced output. It is maid of
two main stages, the first one looking for audio signal and the second one checking the phase
between right and left channel. Should a problem occur CSS 203 switches to the external saving
signal after a user defined delay. The return time is at the user's choice. When on "ALA RM" CSS
203 provides several dry contacts, according to the Alarm type, and allowing to start external
equipment.
 Each monitoring mode can be separately enabled or at the same time. Each mode has its own
error type display, and switching delay settable using DIP-switchs.
 The gate level setting uses DIP-switches.
Monitoring mode : either one side (Right or Left) missing or both channel at the same time.
 Phase control monitor the phase on both channels and goes on alarm when phase is opposite
on the channels.
 Alarm Reset Delay is the same for all Alarm types.
 A switch "Test" enforce an alarm allowing to check whether th e external program starts
correctly (in that case the delays are cancelled).
 A Led indicator, blinks on automatic alarm, and brights on test.
 The monitoring section provides full control of output signal using a bar graph and a
headphone output.
 CSS 203 provides remote control inputs. They allow selecting the source to be monitored
avoiding the equipment to go on alarm.
 Facility to install a 19khz filter in audio analysis, for MPX signal handling.

Option for testing the presence of the modulation on safe input before switching.
Thanks to it design (use of relays for switching) CSS 203 does not affect the signals (no noise, no
distortion) and sends the input to the output in case of power supply cut.

USES

 CSS 203 is intend to be used in broadcast setup, assuming the save of broadcasting when the
main audio signal disappears. The convenient place is at the end of audio chain or after a
satellite receiver, or for local program handling in local radios
