Starting up
Before switching on, make sure that the electrode holder as well as the
stick electrode is not touching the welding table, the workpiece or an-
other electrically conductive object so that an arc is not unintentionally
struck when switching on. An unintentionally struck arc can damage the
electrode holder, the welding table, the workpiece or the welder.
Operating Controls, Indicators and Functions

Power LED 8
Lights up when the welder is ready for operation.
Malfunction LED 9
Lights up when the welder is overheated; no striking of an arc possible.
After switching on the welder, the LED flashes as a self-check.
Welding current output regulator 10
Used for continuous setting of the welding current.
Mode selector switch Stick electrode/TIG 11
The switch is used to select the operating mode for stick electrode or TIG.
Stick Electrode Welding
When selecting a suitable stick electrode, observe the manufacturers' di-
rections. The electrode diameter depends on the thickness of the material
to be welded.
Connecting the Electrode Holder
The polarity of the electrode depends on the type of electrode and
the welding method. Observe the manufacturers' directions on the
package of the electrodes.
Electrode welding with positive (+) electrode: Connect the electrode hold-
er to the connection socket, positive terminal 4 of the welder and secure
it with a right-hand turn of the plug.
Electrode welding with negative (–) electrode: Connect the electrode hold-
er to the connection socket, negative terminal 3 of the welder and secure
it with a right-hand turn of the plug.
Press the lever on the handle of the electrode holder. Clamp an electrode
with its blank end into the holder. Observe the notches on the interior side
of both tongs.
Connecting the Ground Cable
Connect the ground cable to the not yet occupied, second connection
socket terminal 3 or 4 respectively. Secure the connection socket with a
right-hand turn.
Striking an Arc ("Lift Arc")
Briefly touch the workpiece with the electrode at the welding spot and
slightly lift the electrode: The arc is formed between the workpiece and the
electrode.
10
Arc-Force
In order to improve the welding behaviour, the welder is equipped with
an arc-force-function: For short arcs or in case of brief shorts, the welding
current is higher than the set value.
Anti-Stick
When a short circuit of the electrode with the workpiece takes longer than
the normal striking of an arc (e.g., when the electrode "sticks"), then the
welding current is lowered to less than 20 A. This prevents the electrode
from burning out and the short circuit can be corrected without arcing.
In case the welder does not detect the short circuit, the anti-stick-function
does not actuate. This can be the case for
– very thin stick electrodes and too high adjusted welding current,
– long and too thin welding cables,
– insufficient ground contact.
TIG Welding (Accessory)
For TIG welding with this welder, a TIG valve torch is required.
Inserting the Electrode
Grind the tungsten electrode 12 so that it is pointed, unscrew the clamping
cap 13, slide the tungsten electrode 12 through the matching tensioning
sleeve 14, insert and screw on the clamping cap 13 again.
Do not disassemble the tensioning sleeve casing 16 and the gas noz-
zle 17.

Connecting the TIG Torch
Connect the TIG torch to the connection socket, negative terminal 3 and
secure it with a right-hand turn of the plug.
Connecting the Ground Cable
Connect the ground cable to the connection socket, positive terminal 4.
Secure the connection plug with a right-hand turn.
Attach the ground/welding clamp to a blank location of the welding table
or workpiece, ensuring good conductance.
Connecting the Shielding-gas Cylinder
Position the shielding-gas cylinder 18 at a suitable location and secure it
against falling over. A secure stand is achieved when using a wall bracket
or a cylinder cart.
Briefly open the cylinder valve 19 a few times to blow out possible debris
particles.
