Note: the print used for the electronic monitoring of the supply is connected directly to the mains grid.
This is not switched off by the contactor!
4.10. Output connectors
Each output circuit is connected via a special industrial connector (6 off supplied). Each connector may have
a max. load of 16A. The connector is made by Wieland, product ref. GST18 (no. 99.403.5802.2), Niko no.
65-340-32.
Connection: L1: regulated phase
N: neutral wire
: earth
4.11. Cooling
Cooling is essential for reliable and safe operation. The dimmer produces around 1.2% heat with regard to
the connected load. For example, 2,000W lighting = 24W dissipation. The internal fan extracts the air through
the rear of the casing and blows it out through the front plate. The air in the casing must therefore be as cool
as possible (nominal ambient temperature: 20°C). The fan is controlled electronically. Below 35°C it is not
engaged, in order to:
- prolong the life of the fan;
- avoiding to blow dust into the dimmer;
- reduce noise.
Above 35°C the fan is engaged and its speed controlled according to the temperature rise. Ensure there is a
suitable supply of cool air with regard to the total dissipated power. If the circulation of natural air is limited,
a fan must be fitted in the rack or in the dimmer room. The number of circuits and the total power determine
whether the air fed in for the fan has to be cooled.
4.12. Fuses
The transformer is protected against short-circuits by suitable fuses. These fuses may only be replaced by
identical ones, order numbers: 100mA: 00-064-18 & 160mA: 00-064-19
4.13. Interference suppression
4.13.1. Interference via the power supply cables
The degree of interference suppression meets strict European (EN55015) and international standards (CIS-
PR15).
4.13.2. Harmonics (European standard EN61000-3-2)
Depending on the type of installation, the installer will have to ascertain whether additional measures are required.
A number of assessment criteria which make additional measures necessary to comply with the above standard
are set out below (this list is not exhaustive):
- consumption greater than 1,000W per dimmer circuit
- non-professional use
4.14. Low-voltage lighting
The best results are obtained with dimmable electronic transformers. Electronic transformers (all makes) of more
than 105W (typically 150W) remain unsuitable for dimming.
4.15. Connecting mixed loads
Thanks to the technology used, different types of dimmable loads can be connected to the same dimmer circuit.
The following loads are permitted:
- resistive loads (incandescent lamps);
- compensated inductive loads (magnetic transformers);
- capacitive loads (dimmable electronic transformers).

4.16. Usage warnings
These appliances are not suitable for controlling motors unless the specific safety requirements are guaranteed
by external systems (in this case, automatic restarting following an interruption in the power supply is not
permitted).
5. PRODUCT MAINTENANCE
These appliances are manufactured for use in the following conditions:
- an ambient temperature of 20°C;
- a non-condensing degree of atmospheric humidity;
- a mains voltage of 230V between phase and neutral wire.
Regular checking or carrying out of at least the following is recommended after completely switching off the
mains supply:
- pressure of the terminal clamps;
- ventilation;
- dust cleaning of the air filter;
- dust cleaning of the cooling profiles and also the inlet and outlet slots for air supply and extraction.
Attention: these instructions are only intended as a guide. The installation must always be adapted to the ap-
plicable regulations.

7. GUARANTEE PROVISIONS
- Period of guarantee: 2 years from date of delivery. The delivery date is the invoice date of purchase of the
product by the consumer. If there is no invoice, the date of production applies.
- The consumer is obliged to inform Niko in writing about the defect, within two months after stating the
defect.
- In case of a failure to conform, the consumer has the right to a repair or replacement (decided by Niko) free
of charge.
- Niko cannot be held liable for a defect or damage as a result of an incorrect installation, improper or careless
use or wrong usage or transformation of the goods.
- The compulsory regulations of the national legislation concerning the sales of consumer goods and the protection
of the consumers in the countries where Niko sells, directly or via sister or daughter companies, chain stores,
distributors, agents or permanent sales representatives, take priority over the rules and regulations mentioned
above.
