Patio roofs
Depending on the wall construction of the main building, choose a suitable method to secure the base or coupling
stringer to the wall. This construction must be made with fixtures that are suitable as regards the static strength
requirements and the wall construction (see technical data of fixtures). Permissible V=1.77kN/m. The fixtures to secure
the timber elements to the wall of the existing building are not included in the scope of delivery.
To be observed during installation!
For the installation of you weka product, you must work in teams of minimum 2 people.
All screw connections must be pre-drilled to prevent
damage to the timber elements!
This symbol in the instruction document reminds you
to pre-drill:
To ensure perpendicularity, measure the diagonals and correct the position until the measured values are the same.
Roof panels
Prior to installation, store the panels under a roof or keep them covered so that they are protected from direct sunlight!
White foil has proven particularly suitable for this purpose. If several panels are stacked one on top of the other, they
might become deformed or discoloured due to excess heat.
The panels must be installed at a temperature between +5°C and 30°C.
To ensure that the roof is tight, seal the panels with silicon (not included in scope of delivery).
To secure the roof panels, pre-drill them with a 10 mm drill!
With two-coloured roof panels, the dark side must be the bottom side.
Do not fully tighten the screws as the panels need to settle.
Important: Do not install a false floor or thermal insulation under the roof panels, as this would impair proper ventilation!
To prevent heat build-up under transparent roof panels, paint the upper side of the stringers with white dispersion or clad
them in aluminium foil (not included in scope of delivery). Heat build-up can cause cracks in the panels.
IMPORTANT! When installing additional partition walls, storage rooms or wall coverings at a later stage, always
ensure that air circulation under the roof panels is not in any way restricted, as this could result in heat build-up
and damage to the roof panels.
Above all walls, keep a gap of minimum 20 cm to the wall panels.
Roof boarding
Where the roof is clad with tongued and grooved boards, do not push the boards together too tightly, as the boards will
swell slightly when exposed to moisture,
The roofing felt supplied with your product provides some protection against the elements but is not suitable as a
permanent roof cover. To make you construction weather-proof, you must install a second layer (e.g. bitumen felt or
shingles).
Otherwise, your weka product will be damaged over time.
Note
Regularly check all screws and re-tighten them, if necessary. This product consists mainly of solid timber elements. As
timber is a natural product, it might shrink, so that screw connections become loose.
