USB3.0 Universal Docking Station
Item no. 1302108
Intended use
The product is designed for connection to a computer with a USB3.0 interface in order to provide
additional interfaces:
a) External graphics card: By means of a special driver, a monitor connected to it (with HDMI, DVI
or VGA port) works as if your computer or your normal graphics card had an additional monitor
connection.
b) External network adapter: A network connection can be established, e.g. if the computer does
not have a network connection.
c) External USB hub: An integrated USB3.0 hub with 2 ports and a USB2.0 hub with 4 ports provide
additional USB ports, e.g. for a USB mouse or USB keyboard.
d) External sound card: Two stereo jack sockets (3.5 mm, for headphone and microphone) are used
to connect e.g. a headset.
One of the USB3.0 ports also serves as a separate power outlet that can be used to charge ap-
propriate devices (e.g. smartphone or tablet, etc.).
Using a special bracket, you can attach the docking station to a flat surface (e.g. to the back of a
monitor).
The power adapter enclosed is used to supply the power.
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these operating in-
structions.

The "arrow" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.
Safety instructions
D amage due to not following these operating instructions will void the warranty! We

a) General
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not permitted for
safety and approval reasons (CE). Do not disassemble the product.
• Any maintenance or repair work may be performed only by an expert.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a
dangerous plaything for children.
b) Power adapter
• The design of the power adapter complies with Protection Class II. Use only a stand-
ard mains socket as the power source for the power adapter.
• The mains socket into which the power adapter is plugged must be easily acces-
sible.
• Use only the power adapter provided to power the docking station.
• Do not pull the power adapter from the mains socket by pulling on the cable.
• Do not touch any power adapter that shows signs of damage; there is a danger to life
from electric shock!
First, switch off the mains voltage to the socket to which the power adapter is con-
nected (switch off at the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse
or switch off at the corresponding RCD protective switch, so that the socket is fully
disconnected).
You can then unplug the power adapter from the mains socket. Dispose of the faulty
power adapter in an environmentally friendly way, do not use it any more. Replace it
with a power adapter of the same design.
c) Operation
• This product is not a toy. Devices operated on mains voltage should not be used by
children. Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.

warm one. The condensation that forms can ruin the product under certain circum-
stances. The power adapter also poses a risk for a potentially fatal electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it to the power sup-
ply and putting it to use. This may take several hours.
• Avoid the following adverse conditions at the location of installation and during
transport:
- Dampness or excessive humidity
- Extreme cold or heat, direct sunlight
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impacts or blows
- Strong magnetic fields such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or loud-
speakers
Assembly
You can remove the bracket on the underside of the docking station by sliding it off to the side
(possible in only one direction, don't use force!).
Pull the protective strips off of the adhesive surface of the bracket and press the adhesive surface
on a flat, even, clean, dust-free surface (e.g. on the back of a monitor or similar).
Then you can slide the docking station onto the bracket (possible in only one direction).
The bracket can be can be removed again if you pull up slowly on one side so that the adhesive
surface can release. Do not exert any force. The adhesive surface can be reused multiple times,
as long as it has not gotten dirty.
Driver installation
Before connecting the product to the computer, the driver on the supplied CD must be
installed. Otherwise the docking station does not function correctly.
You can find the latest driver for the graphics part of the docking station at:
Windows: www.displaylink.com/support/downloads.php
MacOS: www.displaylink.com/support/mac_downloads.php
Linux: www.displaylink.org
• Insert the enclosed CD into the corresponding drive on your computer. If the installation does
not start automatically, open the CD e.g. with Windows file manager and start the installation
program manually. At the time of creation of this operating manual, the installation programme
"Setup.exe" for the Windows operating system was found in the main directory of the CD.
• Follow all the software or Windows' instructions.
During the installation, the screen may flicker or there might be no image for a short
while. This is normal. Wait until the installation of the software has finished.
• After installation, it might be necessary to restart Windows to ensure the correct functioning of
the product.
Connection and getting started
Install the driver first, if you have not yet done so; see chapter "Driver Installation".
Otherwise, the docking station might not work properly or not function at all.
• Connect the circular low voltage plug of the wall plug transformer provided to the correspond-
ing socket on the docking station.
• Plug the power adapter into a mains socket.
• Connect the docking station via the USB cable, enclosed, to a USB3.0 port on your computer.
• Windows recognises the new hardware and completes the driver installation. This can take
several minutes. During the installation the screen may flicker or there might be no image for a
short while. This is normal (recognition of the external graphics card).
• The product is now ready for operation.
