APPLYING THE TABLE # 2
If a furnace with 0.75 USGPH nozzle is to be
connected to a 20 ft. tall clay-lined masonry chimney,
the thermal resistance of this chimney type is R2,
which is less than R6. The actual firing rate at 130 psi
is 1.14 x .75 = .86. Therefore this table shall apply as:
The minimum size permitted shall be 4 in.
inside diameter.
The maximum size permitted shall be 5 in.
inside diameter.
The minimum base temperature shall be
about 320ºF.

Sidewall venting, DV-2000™ Direct
Vent System:
The furnaces can be sidewall vented without the use
of a sidewall power ventor using the DV-2000™
venting system, with the high static pressure Beckett
AFII
and
Riello

combustion air must be directly connected to the
burner or the DV-2000™ venting system will not
function properly.
The notable characteristics of the DV-2000™ system
are as follows:
a. The vent terminal is far more compact than its
predecessor, even though the intake air and
exhaust functions are contained within the same
terminal device.
b. Certified to use the following materials for ducting
the intake air from the terminal to the burner;
Schedule 40 PVC DWV, Schedule 40 ABS DWV,
And ASTM 2729 Sewer Pipe.
c. One hole of minimal size (6") is required to be cut
in the side wall, and the terminal is designed to fit
through a minimum 2" X 8" joist, with 16"
centers. The standard terminal is designed for a
wall thickness up to 14", and the deep wall
terminal for a wall thickness up to 25".
d. The balanced flue principle allows for stable
burner operation when subjected to high wind
gusts.
e. A tapered sleeve accelerates flue gasses and
propels them away from the sidewall, thereby
minimizing flue gas from recirculating back into
the intake, and minimizing the chance of damage
to the sidewall from moisture or soot.

burners.

f.
The flue gas passages are insulated right up to the
point of discharge. This minimizes condensation
of flue gasses, dripping and icicle formation at the
end of the terminal, and hazardous ice patch
formation on the ground directly below the
terminal.
g. Since the flue gas passages are not perfectly
insulated, some heat is transferred to the
incoming air stream thereby causing some pre-
heating of the combustion air. Therefore, an
optimum balance is struck between giving some
preheating effect to the combustion air, without
creating undue heat loss from the flue gasses.
h. A vent blockage safety shutdown system, is
incorporated in the design. If the vent or intake
opening ever becomes partially or fully blocked,
the burner will shut down before a #1 smoke
occurs.
i.
The safety shutdown system will function correctly
regardless of the length of vent or intake piping
applied.
j.
The safety shutdown system will operate through
the entire certified firing range without field
adjustment. A non-adjustable factory sealed
pressure control ensures quick, easy, and correct
installation.
k. The safety shutdown system is immune to
nuisance or uncalled-for shutdown of the burner
due to wind effects, for wind speeds in excess of
40 mph.
l.
Due to strategic positioning of the pressure
sensing location, there is negligible exposure of
the pressure sensing location to soot and
moisture, as the pressure sensor is not in the flue
gas stream.
m. The intake and vent circuits within the terminal
can be accessed for cleaning.
n. Incorporating the safety shutdown feature allows
for a sealed combustion system. The furnace is
completely isolated from the dwelling and can be
installed to direct vent installation codes R2000
and similar tightly constructed homes will now be
able to use this system.
o. Patent applications have been filed for the DV-
2000™ terminal and DV-2000™ safety shutdown
system.
There are 3 main components to the DV-2000™
system; the VTK vent terminal kit, the IFV insulated
flexible venting material and the field-supplied 3" PVC
or ABS intake piping.
VENT TERMINAL KITS - DV-2000™
The certified standard vent terminal kit is Model VTK,
and is suitable for installation in walls up to 14" thick.
The kit contains the following items to complete the
hook-up to the venting and furnace:
