Carry out maintenance tasks only when
the mains power plug has been pulled out and the
steam generator has cooled down.
If demineralized or distilled water is used
continuously, there is no need to rinse out and
descale the steam generator.
Rinsing out the steam generator
Rinse out the steam generator every 5th filling-
up if the hardness of water proves to be more
than 1.8 mmol/l (corresponds to 10° dH). You
can enquire about the hardness of water in your
area from your water supply company or
municipal public works.
• Fill 0.5 l water into the steam generator.
• Close the steam generator and shake it to
loosen the remnants of limescale.
• Empty out the water.

Descaling the steam generator

As limescale is deposited in the steam generator,
we recommend descaling the tank after the given
number of tank fillings (TF).

Use only those products which are approved
by Kärcher so that there can be no possibility of
damaging the unit.
• Pull out the power plug of the steam generator
and let the steam generator cool down.
• To decalcify, use the Kärcher Bio decalcifier RM
511 (Order no. 6.295-075). Please follow the
dosing instructions given on the packing.
• Fill this solution into the steam generator and
leave to take effect for 8–10 hours.
Do not screw the safety valve onto the steam
generator and do not switch it on while there is
still descaling solution in it.
• Empty out the solution and rinse out the steam
generator 2 or 3 times with fresh water.

• During relatively long pauses between ironing
drops come out of the steam iron!
During relatively long pauses between ironing it
is possible for steam to condense in the steam
line. Direct the first burst of steam on to a
separate cloth.
• The steam iron “splutters out” water!
