Operating Instructions K 1801 B
Before each ironing, fill the steam generator
with water. This saves you from unnecessary
interruptions whilst working. Using warm water to
fill the steam generator reduces the heating-up
time required.
• Screw off safety valve on steam generator
and fill with water (max. capacity 0,9 litres).
• Screw in the safety valve firmly.
• Plug the power plug into a mains socket.
Do not switch on the steam generator if there
is no water in it, otherwise the unit may overheat.
• Switch on steam generator and iron with
switches A2 and A3. The indicator lights in the
switch illuminate.
Wait approx. 8 minutes until the steam
generator and iron have heated up. When the
indicator light in switch A2 goes out, you can
start ironing.
• If there is no steam between work, the steam
boiler is empty. Switch off the unit (A2 and A3)
and fill up with water.

Steam-ironing:

We recommend that you use the Kärcher
Ironing Board with active steam extraction. The
ironing board has been designed to match your new
cleaner and it makes ironing considerably easier
and faster. In any case, you should use an ironing
board which is covered with a mesh-type underlay
that enables steam to pass through.
• The temperature regulator (B1) should be set to
at least ••• (steam mode) for ironing all types of
material. The steam that is then discharged
prevents the material from becoming too hot.
• The iron is ready for use as soon as the
indicator lamp (B3) goes out. The plate of the
iron must be hot so that the steam does not
condense to water and drip onto the item
being ironed.
• When you press the switch (B2) on the iron,
steam is discharged out of holes in the ironing
plate. To set the iron so that steam is
discharged continuously, push the switch
towards the rear until it locks in place. If you
briefly push the switch forwards, a shot of
steam is discharged from the iron.
• Begin by directing the steam onto a piece of cloth
until there is regular flow of steam out of the iron.
• The iron can be held upright to apply steam to
curtains, dresses, etc.
Set the desired steam volume with the
steam volume control (A4)! The lower the set
steam volume, the longer the working time per
tank filling.

Dry-ironing:

If you wish to iron without using steam:
• Switch off the heater for the steam generator
with the switch (A2).
• Press switch B2 on the steam iron and release
the steam until the steam generator is
depressurised.
• Set the temperature regulator (B1) according
to the type of textil that you are going to iron.
The symbols on the regulator have the
following meanings:
Synthetic fibres: •
Refilling with water while ironing
When there is not enough water in the steam
generator refill water.
The safety valve can only be opened when the
steam generator is not under pressure.
The safety valve can become hot after a
long period of working with the steam generator.
When the steam generator is hot there is a risk of
being scalded as water can splash back when the
reservoir is being filled. Let the steam generator
cool down before refilling it with water.
• Switch off the heater for the steam generator
with the switch (A2).
• Press switch B2 on the steam iron and release
the steam until the steam generator is
depressurised.
• Unscrew the safety cap on the steam
generator.
• Fill up with water (max. capacity 0.9 litres).
Note: Filling up with hot water reduces the
heating-up time.
• Firmly screw in the safety cap and switch on
