3.3. Safe handling of batteries

• Batteries may contain combustible materials. If not handled
properly, batteries may leak, heat up excessively, ignite or
even explode, which could result in damage to the camera
and to your health.
• Warning! Risk of explosion if batteries are replaced incorrectly.
Replace batteries only with the same or equivalent type.
• It is very important that you follow the instructions below:
• Always replace all the old batteries at the same time with new
batteries of the same type.
• Do not mix up new and old batteries or different types of bat-
teries. This can lead to malfunctions and increased battery
use.
• Before inserting the batteries, check that the contacts in the
appliance and on the batteries are clean and, if necessary,
clean them.
• Do not use rechargeable batteries.
• Never try to recharge normal batteries. There is a risk of explo-
sion!
• Store batteries in a cool, dry place. Strong direct heat can
damage batteries. Therefore, never place the appliance on
sources of heat (e.g. radiators) or in direct sunlight.
• Do not short circuit or dismantle the batteries.
• Never throw batteries into a fire.
• If the scale is not going to be used for long periods, remove
the batteries.
• Remove empty batteries immediately from the appliance.
• Remove leaking batteries from the appliance immediately.
Clean the contacts before inserting a new battery. Avoid con-
tact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes. Rinse the areas
affected by the battery acid immediately with plenty of clean
water and contact a doctor immediately. There is a risk of
chemical burns due to battery acid!
