Instructions for Use
1. Fit 1-11/16" (43mm) diameter neck of power drill in drill carrier
throat.
Tighten bolt in carrier to lock drill in place.
NOTE: Do not over tighten - maximum torque 60 in-lb
(7.0 Nm).
2. Ensure stop lock collar is set or clear of carrier.
3. Mark center of hole.
4. Align drill to center of hole with Drillmate support behind back of
drill with carrier, start drill, then commence drilling. Ensure support
is firm behind workpiece.
NOTE: Maximum size drill recommended in steel is 1/2"
(13.0mm) with pilot hole.
Maximum size drill recommended in steel is 5/16"
(8.0mm) without pilot hole.
For maximum efficiency use speed chart for drill diameter as recom-
mended by drill manufacturer.
When drilling deep holes ensure drill bit is cleared and not allowed to choke up.
Drillmate is a portable drill stand with various attachments to suit most applications; it can be
held in a vice or fixed with the workplate to a bench with four (4) screws. (NOT PROVIDED) Two
(2) screws are provided for fitment of attachments. Max tightening torque is 60 in-lb (7.0 Nm).
1. Channel Attachment.
Used when drilling main web of channels. Fit with screws provided.
2. Vee Block Attachment.
Used for drilling round material. Max design diameter 2 1/2" (65mm). Fit with screw
provided.
This attachment is also used for drilling flanges of channels or R.S.J.'s which have
tapers (5"). This attachment ensures that support is firm behind workpiece & hole is
drilled at right angles to external face of channel or R.S.J.
3. Workplate attachment.
This can be used to give greater support for general drilling requirements. It can
also be used for holding Drillmate to work bench for use as a conventional drill
stand. Provision is made for drill vice (not provided). Ensure workplate is locked in
place with screws provided.
4. 45° block.
This attachment is fitted to main leg, then the work plate is fitted to the 45° block.
This attachment is ideal for miter joints. Stop lock collar should be set for this
work to ensure hole is not drilled too deep. NOTE: Either Drillmate or workpiece
must be supported before commencing to drill.
Drillmate has Ribs provided in bottom part of leg for clamping in vice, this is the only area
that should be clamped.
Standard precautions for power drill safety should be observed.
