Cable tester for unshielded (UTP) or shielded (STP/FTP) RJ-45 modular plug systems up to
CAT7 or RJ-11 (RJ-12) modular plugs with 2 to 6 wires. Each wire of the connected cable is
individually tested and the classification is shown on a clear luminous bar display. The testing
process runs automatically. The classification of the wires or possible errors such as open
circuit or short circuit can be read directly.
This product is intended for operation with a 9-V compound battery.
Avoid contact with moisture.
Do not use the product under adverse ambient conditions. Adverse ambient conditions are:
- Dampness or excessive humidity
- Dust and combustible gases, vapours or solvents.
- Thunderstorms or similar weather conditions such as strong electrostatic fields, etc.
Any use other than that described above can lead to damage to the product and may involve
additional risks such as short circuits, fire, electric shock etc. No part of the product may be
modified or converted! The safety instructions are to be observed without fail!

improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases,
the warranty will be null and void.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Facilities are
to be observed.
• In schools, training centres, hobby and self-help workshops, use of the measuring
device must be supervised by trained personnel in a responsible manner.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the unit is not permitted for
safety and approval reasons (CE).
• Extra care should be taken when using the device for the first time. Therefore,
please follow the operating instructions carefully.
• The device may not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or high
humidity. The display takes place in a temperature range from 0 °C to +50 °C.
• The housing may not be disassembled, except to open the battery compartment.
• Measuring devices are not toys and should be kept out of the reach of children.

Please insert new batteries before using for the first time or when the operation indicator stops
blinking.
A 9 V block battery (type 6F22 or identical in design) is required for operation.
A battery is supplied with the device.
To insert/replace the battery, proceed as follows:
Slide the battery compartment lid of the MASTER unit towards the direction
of the arrow.
Remove the used batteries from the battery compartment (11), if necessary.
Connect the new battery with the battery clip observing the right polarity.
Insert the new battery into the battery compartment and close it again.
You can order a suitable replacement battery via the ordering
number 652509. Please order once.
To prevent damage to the device through leaking batteries, remove the battery from the device
if you do not need it for a longer period. For the same reason, it is advisable to remove flat
batteries immediately.
Do not leave batteries lying around carelessly. They could be swallowed by
children or pets. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
Batteries must not be charged, shorted or thrown into a fire. There is a risk of
explosion.

In order to ensure correct initial operation, you should read these operating
instructions including the safety instructions thoroughly and attentively
before using the device!
The MASTER unit also powers the REMOTE unit via the cable to be tested. Therefore, two
functioning wires of the cable to be tested are required.
Two testing speeds can be selected with the operating switch.
Switch position OFF:
Switch position ON:
Switch position S:
Set the switch to the appropriate switch position.
The switching of the cable wire to be tested runs automatically from 1 and repeats itself after
the last cable wire. The test interval is signalled by the operation indicator which blinks in the
test cycle.
The test always runs through the maximum possible display area. If a cable has fewer wires
(e.g. telephone lines etc.), only these areas will be displayed.
The MASTER and REMOTE units can be assembled into a unit with the groove (5)
and spring (6) on the side. This makes the handling easier for cables that are not
installed.
Slide the spring of the REMOTE unit (6) from above in the groove of the MASTER unit (5)
Testing the RJ-11 and RJ-45 cable
RJ-11/RJ-12:
To test RJ-11/RJ-12 cables, connect both plugs of the cable to be tested into the socket with
the marking "RJ-11" (3 and 9).
The indicator corresponds to the brightly highlighted area of LED 1 to 6.
RJ-45:
To test RJ-45 cables, connect both plugs of the cable to be tested into the socket with the
marking "RJ-45" (4 and 7).
The indicator corresponds to the entire area of LED 1 to 8 or "G" (shielding).
Device is switched off
