Instructions for Use

Before Using

Read these instructions carefully. They contain important notes for the use, safety and maintenance
of the appliance. Keep them in a safe place and transfer them to a possible succeeding user. Only
use the appliance for the purpose mentioned in these instructions. When using pay particular atten-
tion to the following safety advice.

Safety advice

 Connect the appliance to alternating current only – with a rated
voltage according to the rating plate – to a correctly installed
earthed socket. Cord and plug have to be completely dry.
 Do not pull the connection cord over sharp edges or jam it, do not
allow it to hang down and protect it from heat and oil.
 Do not pull the plug by the connection cord or touch it with wet
hands.
 Do not immerse the appliance, the connection cord or the plug in
water or any other liquid. Risk of electric shock.
 Do not carry the appliance at the connection cord.
 Do not place the coffee-maker or the glass jug onto hot surfaces,
e. g. hot plate etc. or near open flames, it may melt.
 Do not place the appliance onto water damageable surface. Dam-
age from splashing water might be possible.
 Do not use the appliance without water. Fill the water container
with cold water only up to the MAX-level at water-level-indicator.
Do not fill water in the hot appliance. Allow the appliance to cool
down for at least 5 minutes before using it again.
 Caution: the appliance will become very hot during use. Scald-
ing danger due to escaping steam! Do not open the lid or take out
the filter during operation of item. Only touch the item by the han-
dle.
 During use do not move the appliance and do not pull the connect-
ing cord.
 Switch off appliance after each use.
 Only fill the appliance and glass-jug with pure water, not with milk
etc. Bacteria could multiply uncontrollably.
 Do not use the glass jug in the microwave.
 The appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and
above if they have been given supervision or instruction concern-
ing use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the
hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be
made by children unless they are older than 8 years and super-
vised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children
aged less than 8 years.
 The appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience or knowledge
if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use
of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards in-
volved.
 Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with
the appliance.
 Keep the appliance and connection cord out of the reach of chil-
dren. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or work-
top on which the appliance stands.
 Do not let the appliance operate unattended.
 If the following happens do not use the kettle respectively unplug
it immediately:
 The appliance or cord is damaged
 The appliance leaks;
 Any defect after a plunge or something similar is suspected.
In these cases have the appliance repaired.
 Unplug appliance in following cases:
 Faults during use
 Before cleaning and maintenance
 Item is not used for longer period of time
 De-scale the appliance regularly.
 In case of misuse, wrong handling or incorrect repair no liability will
be taken for possible damages. Claims under guarantee are also
excluded in such cases.
 The appliance is intended for household use only and may only be
used indoors. It is not intended for use in environments such as
staff kitchens of shops, offices, farms or other work environments.
Nor is it intended to be used by clients in hotels, motels, bed and
breakfasts and other residential environments.
 The appliance is not intended for commercial or industrial use.
