A two-colour LED on the HE 8 EURO PLUS
continuously indicates the available duration
and thus the battery's charging state in switch
position "ON":
LED green: available duration > 75%
LED red:
available duration 25..75 %
LED off:
available duration < 25 %
Note: By the use of the rechargeable battery
insert, the HE 8 EURO handlamp can be
converted into an HE 8 EURO PLUS model.
The indication of the available duration (LED)
only functions, if the rechargeable battery
insert is used.

5. Taking into operation
Prior to taking the lamp into operation, check
its correct functioning and perfect condition in
l
accordance with these operating instructions
and other applicable regulations!
The handlamp may be opened or charged
only outside of hazardous areas!
Initial use:
Charging alternatives:
The HE 8 EURO PLUS portable lamp
1
(including rechargeable battery set) may only
be charged with the aid of the charger order
ref. 1 1518 000 111.
The battery insert can be recharged separate
from the lamp

An LED on the plug-in charger indicates the

charging function.
Only as much energy is recharged as has been
used.
The battery is protected against overcharge.
Mind: For safety reasons, the battery is
delivered uncharged!
Prior to initial use, the lamp must be charged
for 14 h, with the lamp switch in "OFF"
position.
The whole useful battery capacity will only be
obtained after the battery has been submitted
to at least 3 charging/discharging cycles.
For electrochemical reasons the battery will
absorb no charge at temperatures below -5°C.
At temperatures >30°C, a full charge of the
battery will not be possible for electrochemical
reasons.
Recommendation: Prior to charging, the
battery should be kept so as to have room
temperature (apx. 20°C).
The dry batteries for the HE 8 EURO lamp
(1.5V, IEC 86, R20/LR20 monocells) are to be
installed in accordance with point 6.

Maintenance/Servicing.

6. Maintenance/Servicing
As far as the maintenance, servicing and
test of electrical apparatus for explosive
atmospheres are concerned, the
respective national regulations in
conjunction with the relevant standards
will be applicable!
Mind: Because of the NiCd batteries' self-
discharge, these should be recharged every
4 to 6 months even if the lamp has not been
used.
Lamp replacement:
Lamp replacement may only be
performed in a non-hazardous area!
1. Switch off the lamp and, where appropriate,
pull the charging plug out of the lamp.
2. Unscrew the hexagon socket head screw
SW3 on the front of the handle (fig. 2).
3. Then remove the bezel ring by turning it left
(fig. 2).
4. Lift the bulb out of the bayonet holder (press
and turn left).
5. Fit in the new bulb and close the lamp in
inverse order.
Note: In the holder there are provided 3 lock-in
positions for focussing the bulb.
Mind: Check the firm fit of the hexagon
socket head screw.
Battery replacement:
Battery replacement may only be
performed in a non-hazardous area!
Caution: Do not squeeze leads!
HE 8 EURO battery replacement
1. Switch off the lamp.
2. Unscrew the hexagon socket head screw
SW3 on the back of the battery insert (fig. 2
item 1) and remove the battery set.
3. Open the cover of the battery set (fig. 2,
item 3, screw to be unscrewed with a coin)
and remove the dry batteries.
4. Mind the proper polarity when fitting in the
new dry batteries (indication on the battery
insert).
5. Close the lamp in inverse order.
Recommendation: Use batteries of the same
date of manufacture.
Mind :Check the tight fit of the
hexagon socket head screw.
Note: Observe the national regulations on
waste disposal, when disposing of the
batteries.
HE 8 EURO PLUS battery replacement
1. Switch off the lamp and, where appropriate,
pull the charging plug out of the lamp.
2. Unscrew the hexagon socket head screw
SW3 on the back of the battery insert (fig. 2
item 1) and remove the battery set.
3. Fit in the new battery set and close in
inverse order (fig. 3).
Mind: Check the tight fit of the
hexagon socket head screw.
4. Charge the lamp in accordance with point
5. "Taking into operation".
Note: Observe the national regulations on
waste disposal when disposing of the
batteries. The plastic materials are
marked with the relevant labels.
