UNPACKING
The easiest way to remove the speaker from its carton is to turn the open side of the box
down so that it is resting on a table or the floor, with the flaps spread out and away. Then
pull the box straight up and off.Remove any packing material from the speaker, place it
back in the carton, and store in case you ever need to ship the loudspeaker.
PLACEMENT
The best locations for Klipsch Wide Dispersion Surround Technology
a typical 5.1-channel system are on or against the walls to the sides of the seating area,
anywhere from adjacent to the listening position to about 20 degrees behind.(See Figure
1.)It is also desirable that they be mounted above the ear height of seated listeners (5'-7'
high).Their WDST
design allows great flexibility, however, and good results can be
™
achieved with configurations that depart significantly from the ideal. The speakers can
even be mounted on the ceiling if necessary using an adjustable bracket (not included)
connected to the threaded insert onl y.
If you are assembling a 6.1- or 7.1-channel system, you will need one or two additional
surround speakers at the back of the room.As with the left and right surrounds, the opti-
mum location is above seated ear level. If you are using just one back surround speaker, it
should be centered behind the listening area; if you are using two, they should be spaced a
few feet apart. If practical, the regular left and right surrounds should be almost directly out
to the sides of the seating area rather than slightly behind.(See Figure 1.)
WALL AND CEILING MOUNTING
Some models have threaded inserts for use with wall or ceiling brackets, as well as
back-panel keyholes for flush wall-mounting. If you will be using brackets, see their
instructions for mounting details. (See Figure 2.)
