Sometimes the bottom edge of the platen gets adhesive on it. To
reach it, use the small pulley next to the black gear.
d.
With your left hand, rotate the pulley toward the back of the
binder—in a counter-clockwise direction (figure 25). As you turn the
pulley, the platen rotates.
e.
Stop turning when the platen's edge has rotated 90 degrees.
•
If the platen is hot, put on the heat-protective glove and
wipe the platen with a clean dry cotton cloth. Wipe the surface
lengthwise until it's clean.
Do not use the Citrus solution on the platen when the platen is
NOTE:
hot!
•
If the unit has cooled, wipe the platen with a cloth dampened by
Citrus. You can also peel the adhesive off the platen with your fingers
(or a wooden instrument, like an ice cream stick).
Cleaning the Back-Up Bars
The back-up bars are located inside the upper cover case. These bars
can become gummed up from excess adhesive over time. Remember
to use the heat-protective glove when handling the bars if they are
hot.
a.
Open the Fastback® Model 15xs cover.
b.
Find the back-up bars (figure 24 on page 35).
c.
Push one bar back up against the lid so you can access the inner
faces of the bars.
d.
Dampen a clean cloth with the Citrus cleaning solution. With the
cloth, clean the edges of both bars.
e.
When finished, push the top bar back down, and close the cover.
E. Closing the Fastback® Cover
First, put the book rest back into its original position (figure 22 on
page 33). Apply pressure on the book rest until it clicks and locks into
place.
Before closing the cover, make sure no cleaning materials are inside
the binder. Once you've checked, pull down the cover. Press down
on each side of the front of the case until the latch clicks and locks
into place.
